Dalan Drama is a Nepali TV series which display the socio-cultural transformation of Nepal, during 1951 to 1995, from the view point of Dalit. It is directed by Nabin Subba. [1] [2]

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Gandarbha</span>

The Gandarbha caste or Gaine are a Dalit community which belongs to the Indo-Aryan ethnic group from the central, hilly region of Nepal. They have also been called a "caste of professional musicians" and "itinerant bards." By tradition they make their living by singing Gandarbha Geet or Gaine Geet, a type of folk song. The Gandarbhas traditionally work as travelling musicians and play traditional folk and historical songs. They improvise songs too, incorporating news into them as a service, in return for which they receive donations of food or other things. They use the Nepali sarangi, a type of violin, as their main musical instrument. The sarangi has been an iconic musical instrument identified with the Gandarbha people. The instrument has replaced another instrument they played, the aarbajo, which was larger and "more cumbersome."

Dalit Janajati Party is a political party in Nepal. In the 2008 Constituent Assembly election, the party won 1 seat through the Proportional Representation vote.

Nepal Dalit Sangh is a Nepalese Dalit movement linked to the Nepali Congress. When the Nepali Congress was divided and the Nepali Congress (Democratic) was formed, a splinter Nepal Dalit Sangh (Prajatantrik) was formed as the NC(D) Dalit wing by ratifying the Committee of Ratna Bahadur Bishwakarma, Which was already formed as alternative parallel central committee by agitating with organizing committee in Biratnagar 2nd Convention of Nepal dalit Sangh. With the reunification of NC and NC(D) the NDS and NDS(P) were also reunified, and in August 2007 the Nepali Congress appointed a 39-member ad hoc committee of NDS, with Khadga Bahadur Basyal (Sarki) as president and Jeevan Pariyar as general secretary. Dipak Soni was a secretary in central committee of Nepal Dalit sangh till 2021, from January 2022, Mr. Soni is appointed as acting General secretary and Mr. Bhiusen Damai has been newly nominated as secretary for remaining tenure of NDA central committee. rest of two secretaries are MS. Nepal Utpidit Dalit Jatiya Mukti Samaj is a Nepalese Dalit movement. The organization emerged in the wake of the 1990 democracy movement as the major Dalit movement in the country. Nepal Udpidit Dalit Jatiya Mukti Samaj was founded in 1992, through the merger of two previous organizations - the Nepal Rastriya Dalit Jana Bikas Parishad and the Utpidit Jatiya Utthan Manch.

Nabin Subba (Limbu) (born 14 December 1967) is a Nepalese film director, screenwriter and producer. He started out from writing and directing award winning plays. He then started writing screenplays and since then he has written, directed and produced 16 films. He emerged as a prominent Nepalese director in 2002 with his highly praised feature film "Numafung," establishing himself as a leading figure in the industry. His subsequent works, including the 52 episode TV series "Dalan" about Dalits (the untouchables in Nepal) which he completed in 2006 and which aired from NTV 2008/2009. The TV serial was one of the most popular serial in the history of Nepal television, and was nominated for One world media trust, UK for outstanding work on social issue in developing countries. His third feature film "Goodbye Kathmandu," solidified his reputation as an auteur. Known for his focus on the Nepalese indigenous community, Nabin Subba is recognized as one of the pioneer of the independent film movement in Nepalese cinema. Additionally, he has dedicated considerable time to nurturing emerging talents. He is among the first Nepali filmmakers to participate in international film festivals as his debut film “Khangri'” (1996) won special mention at the Trento International Mountain Film Festival, Italy followed by prize of the jury at Propad International Film Festival, Austria and official selection at Telluride International Mountain Film Festival 1997. Now he returns with his first feature film in seven years, A Road to a Village starring Dayahang Rai, Pashupati Rai & Prasan Rai. The film is said to be about the change in father son relation brought by a newly built road in remote eastern Himalayas of Nepal.

Bista is a family name of people of Nepal belonging to Khas people group under the caste Chhetri, sub-groups of Kshatriya varna and the Bahun caste of Brahmin varna. They are Hindu with a local Masto deity. They speak Nepali language as mother tongue. In India, Bista/Bistas are spelled as Bisht/Bishts or Bist/Bists and are titled as Rajputs. They are mostly found in Indian state of Uttarakhand. Bista is also a surname belonging to the Brahmins of the Kumain Bahun subcaste.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">2022 Lalitpur municipal election</span>

Municipal election for Lalitpur took place on 13 May 2022, with all 147 positions up for election across 29 wards. The electorate elected a mayor, a deputy mayor, 29 ward chairs and 116 ward members. An indirect election will also be held to elect five female members and an additional three female members from the Dalit and minority community to the municipal executive.
