Dale Edward Chung is a percussionist, songwriter, actor, director, producer, production sound mixer, post sound engineer. He has a Latin Grammy Award for his work on the album Buenos Diaz (2019). He has a Latin Grammy nomination for Paseo Lunar (2020) as a member and producer of Lucky Diaz and the Family Jam Band (The Lucky Band). Early life and education

Dale Edward Chung is a Chinese American. Born in Oakland and raised in Berkeley, California. His grandmother was a welder during World War II in Richmond California, among women known as "Rosie the Riveters." Chung's ancestors were among the founding Chinese families in the Monterey Bay area in the 1860s. [8]

Dale's music journey began when he took piano lessons at 14 and then starting taking conga lessons at 15. While attending Berkeley High School, he became a conga player in jazz band. He also took Afro Haitian dance classes. After high school he attended Later Cal State Hayward to study marketing. [8]

Career

Dale was member of Con Funk Shun and performed on the album More Than Love that reached the Top 20 on the Billboard Adult R&B Chart. [9] [10] [11]

Dale was featured in the ABS-CBN feature film Labyu with an Accent starring Coco Martin and Jody Sta. Maria making a guest appearance as himself. His song “The Beautiful One” is part of the soundtrack for the film. In 2024, Dale was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Global Music Performance for his work as a Featured Artist on the song "Kashira" by Masa Takumi. [12] [3] [4] [5] [6] [7]

Con Funk Shun is an American R&B and funk band from Vallejo, California, formed in 1969. They were influenced by funk progenitors James Brown and Sly and the Family Stone. Signed to Mercury Records in 1976, the band had numerous successful national and overseas tours, eleven albums, and a number of hit singles. The group formally disbanded in 1986.

Robert Eibach is an American, multi-Grammy and Latin Grammy Award nominated artist, producer, recording engineer, musician, DJ and remixer. Eibach is a band member and one of the producers on The Lucky Band album Paseo Lunar, which was nominated for a 2020 Latin Grammy Award in the Children's category. He worked on Winds of Samsara by Ricky Kej and Wouter Kellerman, which won a Grammy® Award for Best New Age Album. Also, Eibach contributed his work on Wouter Kellerman's 2015 album Love Language, which earned a Grammy® Nomination for Best Contemporary Instrumental Album. In 2015, Lucky Diaz and The Family Jam Band earned a Latin Grammy Award nomination for their children's album Adelante, which Eibach was an engineer on. Lucky Diaz and the Family Jam Band is the husband and wife team of Lucky Diaz and Alisha Gaddis. The Grammy and Emmy-award-winning duo plays bilingual indie music for kids described by The Washington Post as "a hip-shaking, head-bopping, Los Angeles–based explosion of 'kindie' rock." They are known for whimsical children's songs which they also incorporated into a television show. Diaz graduated from Berklee College of Music and Gaddis graduated from NYU's Tisch School of the Arts.
