Plot
Sharad (Amol Palekar) belongs to a middle-class family and lives with his brother Shreeram Lagoo and sister-in-law Tarla Mehta in Bombay. Sharad gets a factory job in Malavli and accepts it though not interested. The bosses (Rodrigues and Choudhury) are initially rude to him, but soften and pamper him when they realize he is unmarried. Both of them are on the lookout for grooms for their daughters. Chaudhary (Pinchoo Kapoor) invites Sharad home for lunch and introduces him to his daughter Leena (Preeti Ganguly) who promptly falls in love with him. Rodrigues introduces Sharad to his three daughters as well.
Sharad is in love with his neighbour Renu (Ranjeeta Kaur). At the factory, his assistant Khote (Ashok Saraf), wanting to help him get out of the trap set by the bosses, spreads a rumour that Sharad is not of good character. This, however, creates tensions between Renu and Sharad. Chaudhury starts believing that Khote is spreading the rumours to win over Sharad as his own son-in-law. After a series of funny incidents and fumbles, all tensions are finally resolved.
Ashok Kumar, was an Indian actor who attained iconic status in Indian cinema. He was considered the first big star of Indian cinema as well as the first lead actor to play an anti-hero. He also became the first star to reinvent himself, enjoying a long and hugely successful career as a character actor. He was a member of the cinematic Ganguly family. He was honoured in 1988 with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award, the highest national award for cinema artists, by the Government of India. He received the Padma Shri in 1962 and Padma Bhushan in 1999 for his contributions to Indian cinema.
Dina Pathak was an Indian actress and director of Gujarati theatre and also a film actor. She was an activist and President of the National Federation of Indian Women (NFIW).
Dr. Shriram Lagoo was an Indian film and theatre actor, in Hindi and Marathi, in addition to being an ENT Surgeon. He was known for his character roles in films. He acted in over 250 films including Hindi and Marathi films as well as Hindi, Marathi and Gujarati plays, and directed over 20 Marathi plays. He was also very vocal and active in furthering progressive and rational social causes, for example in 1999, he and social activist G. P. Pradhan undertook a fast in support of anti-corruption crusader Anna Hazare. He won the 1978 Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor for the Hindi film Gharaonda. His autobiography is titled Lamaan (लमाण), which means "the carrier of goods".
Laawaris (transl. Orphan) is a 1981 Indian masala film directed by Prakash Mehra. The film became known for its song "Mere Angene Mein Tumhara Kya Kaam Hai" rendered twice: the first time by a young Alka Yagnik, who earned her first Filmfare nomination as best female playback singer, and the second time by Amitabh Bachchan. The second version became very popular due to Bachchan's comedic performance in drag. The lyrics pay tribute to every type of wife, be they fat, tall, short, dark, or fair skinned. Even today, the song is popular among audiences.

Adaalat (transl. Court) is an Indian television courtroom drama anthology series about a defence attorney, K.D. Pathak, portrayed by Ronit Roy. The first season of the show premiered on Sony Entertainment Television on 20 November 2010 and ran for five years, ending on 11 July 2015. The show aired 431 episodes in its first season. Adaalat returned for its second season on Sony Entertainment Television on 4 June 2016 and ended on 4 September 2016. The show aired 26 episodes in its second season.
