Damodar Gautam Sawang is the chairman of Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission [6] and a former Director General of Police, Andhra Pradesh.

Sawang served as the Director General of Police, Andhra Pradesh from 31 May 2019 to 15 February 2022.

Sawang is a Regular Recruit [1] of the Indian Police Service belonging to the 1986 [1] batch and allocated to the Andhra Pradesh Police [1] cadre. After the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh, Sawang was retained [7] in the residual Andhra Pradesh State. [1]

Many police officers have been groomed [8] by Sawang during his posting in Warangal, including Stephen Raveendra. [1]

Ekkadu Srinivasan Lakshmi Narasimhan is an Indian former civil servant and politician who served as the first Governor of Telangana. He assumed office of the Governor of Andhra Pradesh on 2 June 2014 until 23 July 2019 And Governer of United Andhra from 28 December 2009 to 1 June 2014 making him the last-serving governor of the state. Later he took on 2 June 2014 as the 1st Governor of Telangana as additional charge. The Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) was formed when the state of Andhra Pradesh formed on 1 November 1956. Earlier, the commission was known as the Andhra Service Commission (formed in 1953) which is based on the regulations of Madras Public Service Commission. He served as the Additional Director General of Police in Mumbai, Maharashtra. He is known for leading the investigations like OMC Scandal, Emaar Properties, Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy Case, Satyam Scandal and Disproportionate Assets. He had previously held the post of Joint Commissioner of Police of Thane, Maharashtra and before that as Inspector general of police Rank under Y-category security for dealing with high-profile corruption cases. He contested from Visakhapatnam constituency in the 2019 Indian general election from Jana Sena Party. He has resigned from the Jana Sena Party in 2020.

V. Dinesh Reddy is an Indian police officer from the state of Andhra Pradesh serving as the Director General of Andhra Pradesh Police. He is an Indian Police Service (IPS) officer from the 1977 batch of the Andhra Pradesh cadre. He completed his schooling from Hyderabad public school (HPS) and college from Madras Christian College (MCC) and St.Stephens Delhi. Dinesh Reddy joined the Indian Police Service on 30 July 1977 from the Andhra Pradesh Cadre and he retired serving as the Director General of Andhra Pradesh Police in 2013.

Bayyarapu Prasada Rao was an Indian Police Service (IPS) officer from the 1979 batch of the state of Andhra Pradesh who served as the Director General (DGP) of Andhra Pradesh Police. He was appointed in charge Director General of Police (DGP) of Andhra Pradesh on 30 September 2013. Earlier he served as the Director General of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB). After the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh, he was deputed as Secretary in the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), Government of India which is one of the key posts after the Union Home Secretary. Kota Srinivas Vyas was an Andhra Pradesh Cadre Indian Police Service officer of the 1974 batch. He is known for founding the Greyhounds police unit.

Prakash Singh is a retired Indian Police Service officer, who rose to the highest rank of Director General of Police (DGP). He has served as Chief of the Border Security Force (BSF), Uttar Pradesh Police and Assam Police. He is considered one of the best police officers for his role as key architect for Police reforms in India. After his retirement from service in 1996, he filed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) in the Supreme Court of India. The landmark verdict of PIL came in 2006, in which the Supreme Court has given specific directions to the central and state governments to carry out structural changes in the police with a view to insulating it from extraneous pressures and making it accountable to the people.

HJ Dora is a 1965 batch IPS officer of Andhra Pradesh cadre, the former Director General of Police, Andhra Pradesh and former Vigilance Commissioner, Government of India. Dora joined the Indian Police Service in 1965 and was allotted to Andhra Pradesh Cadre. After serving as an additional D.G. of Police (C.I.D.), in Andhra Pradesh, he was promoted to the Director General of Police for the State in 1996. In 2002 he went on deputation as Director General of Police to the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) in New Delhi. He also served as the president of Indian Olympic Weight Lifting Association and was also the Chef-de-mission of the Indian contingent to the 2006 Commonwealth Games. In 1993, Dora was one of the 40-odd policemen marked for death by the People's War Group (PWG).
