Dan Drown (born October 24, 1942) is an American water polo player. He competed in the men's tournament at the 1964 Summer Olympics. [1]

Filippo Magnini is an Italian retired competitive swimmer who was twice 100 metres freestyle World champion and three times European champion at that distance.
Robert Van de Walle is a retired Belgian judoka. He was the first judoka to ever compete at five Olympics, from 1976 to 1992. Competing in the half-heavyweight category he won the gold medal in 1980 and a bronze in 1988 at the age of 34. Van de Walle won European titles in 1980, 1985 and 1986. Together with Ingrid Berghmans he was the face of Belgian judo in the late 1970s and 1980s. After retiring from competitions he ran a coaching company together with his wife. He was the head of the Belgian delegation at the 2004 Summer Olympics. In summer 2021, 14 years after obtaining the rank of black belt 8th dan; Van De Walle, currently a member of Judo Club Crossing Schaerbeek, accepted his promotion to 9th dan from the International Judo Federation.
David Allen Johnson is a former Olympic decathlete from the United States. A native of Montana, he grew up in Missoula and Corvallis, Oregon. He was part of Reebok's "Dan & Dave" advertising campaign, with fellow decathlete Dan O'Brien, leading up to the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona, Spain, where he won a bronze medal in the decathlon. After retiring from competitive athletics he became a school teacher and administrator, serving as athletic director of Corban University in Salem, Oregon starting in 2009. Johnson accepted a position as Director with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes Oregon in June 2012. On November 14, 2012, Johnson resigned from Corban to devote more time to the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. He now coaches pole vault & hurdles at South Salem High School.
Andrey Tissin was a Russian sprint canoer who competed in the late 1990s and early 2000s (decade). He won four medals at the ICF Canoe Sprint World Championships with a gold, two silvers, and a bronze.
Julius "Jul" Braathe was a Norwegian rifle shooter who competed in the early 20th century. Braathe won the gold medal with the Norwegian 300 metre free rifle team at the 1908 Summer Olympics in London. He also competed at the 1906 Intercalated Games and the 1912 Summer Olympics. He died in a drowning accident, 37 years old.
Somalia first participated at the Olympic Games at the 1972 Summer Games in Munich, West Germany; the Somali Olympic Committee being recognised by the International Olympic Committee shortly prior. The nation has sent athletes to compete in most Summer Olympic Games since then, boycotting in 1976 due to the inclusion of New Zealand, and in 1980 when it joined with the American-led boycott. It also did not compete in 1992 due to the ongoing effects of a famine. Somalia entered their largest contingent of athletes at the 1984 Summer Olympics, a total of seven.
Somalia sent a delegation to compete at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, China. The country's participation at Beijing marked its seventh in the Summer Olympics since its debut in 1972 Games. The delegation included two track and field athletes: sprinter Samiya Yuusf Omar and long-distance runner Abdinasir Said Ibrahim. Neither athlete progressed past the first round of their respective competitions. Omar's story, having trained in Mogadishu during the Somali Civil War, was covered by the media at the time, and later featured in a graphic novel following her death.

Dănuț "Dan" Grecu is a retired Romanian artistic gymnast who specialized in rings. In 1974 he became Romania’s first world champion in artistic gymnastics and was named Romanian Athlete of the Year. Grecu competed at the 1972, 1976 and 1980 Olympics and won a bronze medal in 1976; he had to withdraw from the 1980 Olympics due to a muscle tear sustained on the rings. In addition to his 1974 gold medal he won two world and two European medals on the rings. He retired due to injuries to his shoulder and biceps sustained in training while preparing to the 1980 Olympics.

Adlan Abuevich Varayev was a Russian-Chechen welterweight freestyle wrestler who won a silver medal at the 1988 Olympics. He won the 1987 World Championships, beating Dave Schultz in the final, and placed second in 1986. Varayev held the European welterweight title in 1986–1988. After retiring from competitions worked as a wrestling coach and administrator. He trained the Russian national freestyle team and served as vice-president of the Russian Wrestling Federation. He drowned after a bad fall into the Argun River.
Dan Slater is a New Zealand sailor. He is a member of Wakatere Boating Club in North Shore City. At the 2000 Summer Olympics he competed in the mixed skiff with Nathan Handley, finishing in 8th place. At the 2008 Summer Olympics, he competed in the men's finn class finishing 12th. He competed at the 2012 Summer Olympics in the Men's Finn class. He was successful in winning the third race which the commentator remarked was "one of the races of his life".
Eric Christian William Krenz was an American shot putter and discus thrower. Krenz set two world records in the discus and was considered a favorite for the 1932 Summer Olympics, but his career was cut short when he drowned at age 25.
