Horace Ashenfelter III was an American athlete. He competed in international athletics from 1947 to 1956. During his career he won fifteen national AAU titles and three collegiate national titles.
The 1900 Summer Olympics in Paris were the first Olympics at which Canadian athletes participated. Two Canadians participated, although not as a national team. Canada's Olympians were George Orton and Ronald J. MacDonald. Orton was the first Canadian to win a medal, finishing first in the 2500-metre steeplechase. He later finished third in the 400-metre hurdles and fifth in the 4000-metre steeplechase. Orton, who was at school at the University of Pennsylvania, had accompanied a United States delegation to the games.

George L. Young was an American track athlete and college coach. He won a bronze medal at the 1968 Summer Olympics in the 3000 meter steeplechase and held several American records in events ranging from the two mile to the 5000 meter race. He broke two world records, in the indoor two and three mile events.
Anthony Famiglietti(nickname: Fam; born November 8, 1978 in Medford, New York) is an American track and field athlete who competes professionally for Skechers Performance and Reckless Running. He was formerly sponsored by Adidas. He has competed for the U.S. in the 3000 meter steeplechase at the 2004 Athens Olympic Games and the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. In December 2019 he ran a World Record treadmill mile of 3:55. He has the first known recorded sub-4 mile ever run on a treadmill. In January 2020 he followed up his mile with a World Record 2 mile run of 8:24 at the Endurance Exchange hosted by USA Triathlon. He is current training to make his 5th Olympic trials and 3rd Olympic team. In Spring 2020 he is hoping to become the 4th human being ever to break 4 minute mile on the track at 40 years old.
Michael Aloysius Devaney was an American track and field athlete who competed in the 1920 Summer Olympics and in the 1924 Summer Olympics. He was born and died in Belleville, New Jersey.
Philip Yates Coleman was a middle- and long-distance runner from the United States. He was born in Champaign, Illinois. He won the gold medal in the men's 3000 metres steeplechase event at the 1959 Pan American Games. Coleman attended Southern Illinois University (1948 - 1952, spent two years in the Army and becoming inter service steeplechase champion. He attended graduate school at the University of Illinois, meanwhile competing for The University of Chicago Track Club. He was a member of the 1956 and 1960 Olympic teams. He retired from running in 1960, wrote an article for Sports Illustrated “Idea of an Amateur, 1962, for which he was awarded the Mohammed Taher trophy by the International Olympic committee. With his thesis, “Mark Twain’s Desperate Naturalism” completed, he received a PhD in Literature in 1964. He taught literature and served as dean at California University of Pennsylvania, retiring in 1998.
Jeffrey ("Jeff") Mason Fishback is a retired middle- and long-distance runner from the United States. He won the gold medal in the men's 3000 metres steeplechase event at the 1963 Pan American Games in Brazil.

In the same year, Nelson claimed his first ever career title at the U.S. Outdoor Track & Field Championships, with a time of 8:28.46.

He entered university at both Princeton and Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He went on to compete in the men's 3000 metres steeplechase at the 1924 Summer Olympics.
Melvin Joseph Dalton was an American steeplechase runner. He competed in the men's 3000 metres steeplechase at the 1928 Summer Olympics.
Miguel Santiago "Mike" Roche is an American middle-distance runner. He competed in the men's 3000 metres steeplechase at the 1976 Summer Olympics. Roche was a 1975 NCAA All-American in the 3000 steeplechase while attending Rutgers University. He was ranked in the top 10 US Steeplechasers from 1975 to 1980. In 1978, Roche was a member of the silver medal-winning US International Cross Country team competing in Glasgow, Scotland. On July 4, 1978, Roche beat 12,000 runners at the Peachtree Road Race in Atlanta, GA, setting a new course record (28:59)in the process. In March 1981, Roche established a new American Record for 10 miles with a time of 46:57 at Cherry Hill, NJ. The record would stand for 2 years.
