Both the song and the video satirize the mainstream music industry. "I Feel Like Dancin'" was released to mainstream radio on June 14, 2011. The song reached No. 13 on the Bubbling Under Hot 100 chart. To promote the single, the band flew to the UK and performed it along with a cover of Britney Spears's hit single "Hold It Against Me" on BBC Radio 1's Live Lounge on 24 May.
"Swayin' to the Music (Slow Dancin')", initially titled "Slow Dancing", is a song written by Jack Tempchin. Under the title "Slow Dancing", the song originally was a minor US hit in 1976 for the band Funky Kings (of which Tempchin was a member). The song became much better known as "Swayin' to the Music (Slow Dancin')" in a 1977 cover version by Johnny Rivers, which became a top ten US hit. It was Rivers' last Top 40 hit in the United States, and became his second Gold record.
"I Was Made for Dancin'" is a song written by Michael Lloyd and performed by Leif Garrett. It reached #4 on the UK Singles Chart, #10 on the Billboard Hot 100, and #38 on the US adult contemporary chart. It also reached #2 in Australia, #10 in Germany, and #12 in Japan. The song, produced by Lloyd and arranged by John D'Andrea, was featured on his 1978 album, Feel the Need.
"Totally Hot" is a song recorded by British-Australian singer Olivia Newton-John. It was released as the third and final single from her 1978 tenth studio album of the same name, and reached number 52 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and number 92 on the Canadian RPM Top Singles chart.
Dancin' on the Ceiling was a studio album by The Beck Family, an R&B vocal group from Philadelphia. It made the Billboard Soul LPs chart in 1979. It contained the hit song, "Can't Shake the Feeling" which registered on four USA charts and charted in Canada. Another song, "Words and Music" was a popular song for the UK dancefloors.
