Daniel Jay (born May 13,1954) is a former American politician from the state of Iowa.
Jay was born in Centerville,Iowa in 1954. He graduated from Moulton-Udell Community School,(valedictorian) 1972;B.A.,Drake University,(magna cum laude) 1975;J.D,Drake University Law School,1979. He is married with three children and several grandchildren. [1]

Oscar Martin "Ossie" Solem was an American football player,coach of football and basketball,and college athletics administrator. He served as the head football coach at Luther College in Decorah,Iowa (1920),Drake University (1921–1931),the University of Iowa (1932–1936),Syracuse University (1937–1945),and Springfield College (1946–1957),compiling a career college football record of 162–117–20. From 1913 until 1920,Solem was the head coach of the Minneapolis Marines,prior to that team's entry into the National Football League (NFL). During his time with the Marines,Solem introduced the team to the single-wing formation,developed by the famed coach,Pop Warner,and used by the University of Minnesota,where Solem had played football. Solem was also the head basketball coach at Drake University for four seasons,from 1921 to 1925,tallying a mark of 37–31.
Jared Jay DeVries is a former American football defensive end. He played college football for the University of Iowa,and earned All-American honors. He was drafted by the Detroit Lions in the third round of the 1999 NFL Draft,and played his entire professional career for the Lions. He is currently the head coach for the Clear Lake High School football team.

Charles Shelton was an American college football player and coach. He served as the head football coach at Drake University from 1977 until 1985,at Utah State University from 1986 to 1992,and at University of the Pacific in Stockton,California from 1992 to 1995,compiling a career college football coaching record of 81–127–1. He was the head coach at two schools,Drake and Pacific,when they canceled their football program. Drake brought it back for the 1987 school year,but Shelton had already left as head coach. Shelton was born in Rolla,Missouri and led the state of Missouri in rushing in 1954. During the 1954 season he averaged more than 12 yards per carry,and led his team to an undefeated season.

They currently compete in the non-scholarship Pioneer Football League and have been charter members of the conference since 1993. Drake began playing intercollegiate football in 1893.
The Hy-Vee Classic consisted of games between Iowa's four NCAA Division I men's basketball teams:Iowa,Iowa State,Northern Iowa,and Drake. For 2012–2018,the rivalry consisted of a one-day two game event at Wells Fargo Arena each December,originally called the Big Four Classic but now known as the Hy-Vee Classic,Iowa and Iowa State playing each other in an ongoing-home and home series,and Drake and Northern Iowa playing each other regularly as members of the Missouri Valley Conference. Grinnell College was previously considered a part of the Big Four prior to their demotion to NCAA Division III athletics when they were members of the MVIAA and Missouri Valley Conference.
