Danilo Olayvar Leyble is a Filipino lawyer and politician serving as the member of Rizal Provincial Board representing Antipolo's second congressional district. He previously served as the city's mayor,vice mayor,and councilor.
Leyble started his political career when he was elected as municipal councilor,serving two terms.
In 2004,he ran as vice mayor and won. He was re-elected in 2007.
On January 6,2009,he sworn in office as he took over the city's top post after then-Mayor Victor Sumulong died due to multiple organ failure from diabetes. [1] [2]
In 2010,he ran as mayor and won against former Mayor Angelito Gatlabayan. He gained 120,783 votes. [3]
In 2013,he ran again as mayor but lost in a tight elections to then-Governor Casimiro Ynares III. Meanwhile,his running-mate,Councilor Ronaldo "Puto" Leyva won against Ynares' running-mate,re-electionist Susan Garcia-Say. [4]
Shortly after elections,murder complaint was filed against him and other six persons,with alleged assassination attempt against Mayor Ynares and his father,former Rizal Governor Casimiro "Ito" Ynares Jr. [5] After one month,they were cleared of charges due to lack of evidence. [6]
In 2016,he ran as vice mayor,with then-Vice Mayor Leyva as his running-mate. They both lost in the race. [7]
After six years,he participated again in the elections,running as provincial board member under his former political rival's slate. [8] He won unopposed. [9]
