Danyel Mitchell (born September 16, 1972) is a female former discus thrower and shot putter from the United States. She set her personal best (54.62 metres) in the women's discus throw event on August 10, 1995 at the World Championships in Gothenburg, Sweden.
Mitchell was a member of the Louisiana State University track and field team.
The discus throw, also known as disc throw, is a track and field sport in which the participant athlete throws an oblate spheroid weight — called a discus — in an attempt to mark a farther distance than other competitors. It is an ancient sport, as demonstrated by the fifth-century-BC Myron statue Discobolus. Although not part of the current pentathlon, it was one of the events of the ancient Greek pentathlon, which can be dated back to at least 708 BC, and it is part of the modern decathlon.

Born to Yugoslavian parents he represented the US in international competition. He participated at the 1988 and 1992 Summer Olympics. In addition he competed in three World Track and Field Championships representing the United States, 1991 Tokyo, Japan, 1993 Stuttgart, Germany, and 1995 Goteborg, Sweden. He is a four time Olympic and World Championship finalist in the Men's Discus Throw.
Anthony Washington is an American former discus thrower, who competed in three consecutive Summer Olympics. At the 1999 World Championships in Seville, Washington won the gold medal in discus throw.
Richard Aldrich Babka was an American discus thrower. A former world record holder, Babka also won a silver medal in the discus event at the 1960 Summer Olympics in Rome.
Armas Rudolf Taipale was a Finnish athlete. He competed at the 1912 Summer Olympics and won gold medals in two discus throw events, conventional and two-handed, where the total was counted as a sum of best throws with a left hand and with a right hand. After World War I he won a silver medal in the conventional discus throw at the 1920 Olympics and finished tenth in the shot put. At the 1924 Olympics he competed only in the discus throw and finished in 12th place. Taipale set two unofficial world records in the discus.
L. Jay Silvester and participated in college athletics at Utah State University from 1956 to 1959 is an American retired athlete who mainly competed in the discus throw. In this event he finished in fourth, fifth, second and eighth place at the 1964, 1968, 1972 and 1976 Summer Olympics, respectively, and won a bronze medal at the 1975 Pan American Games.
Dragana Tomašević is a Serbian discus thrower. Since 8 August 2006, she is holder of the Serbian national record in Discus Throw with her personal best shot of 63.63 m.
Werner Josef Reiterer is an Austrian-born retired discus thrower and shot putter from Australia, who represented the latter at two consecutive Summer Olympics, starting in 1988. His best result was winning the title in the men's discus throw at the 1994 Commonwealth Games in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. Reiterer is an eight-time national champion in the discus throw.
Adam Setliff is a retired discus thrower from the United States, who represented his native country at two consecutive Summer Olympics, finishing 12th and 5th respectively. He set his personal best in the men's discus throw on July 21, 2001, at a meet in La Jolla, California. Adam picked up a discus for the first time as a young boy and began throwing it outside in his childhood yard in Big Horn, WY, this is where his love of throwing began. He retired prior to the 2004 season. Currently, Adam lives in Dallas, Texas and practices real estate law while running a title agency.

He is best known for winning the gold medal in the men's discus throw event at the 1989 Summer Universiade in Duisburg, West Germany. Keshmiri set his personal best at the 1988 World Junior Championships in Athletics in Sudbury, Ontario on July 27, 1988. He also won three NCAA discus titles at the University of Nevada at Reno.
