Darah Garuda is a sequel to the Merah Putih film which was produced by the collaboration of Media Desa Indonesia owned by Hashim Djojohadikusumo and the international film production house Margate House owned by Rob Allyn and Jeremy Stewart. The background story of this film is taken from the history of the Indonesian struggle for independence in 1947 when the Dutch Military Aggression I occurred the heart of the government of the Republic of Indonesia was in Central Java. The story of this film revolves around a group of fictional characters who form friendships as cadets and survive a massacre by Dutch soldiers. They then fought as guerrilla soldiers in the interior, colored by conflict due to differences in character, social status, ethnicity, culture, and religion.
This film tells the story of a group of heroic cadets who waged a guerrilla war on the island of Java in 1947.
Torn apart by the secrets of their past, and sharp conflicts in terms of personality, social class and religion, four young men unite to launch a reckless attack on a Dutch prison camp, in order to save the women they love.
These cadets were connected to General Sudirman's headquarters where they were given a top secret assignment behind enemy lines in West Java – a commando-style attack on a vital airfield that could reverse the rebels' resistance against the tyranny that General Van Mook had committed in August 1947. Penetrating deep into the forest, they encountered another group of Islamic separatists, as well as new and potential allies who betrayed them – colonial spies in their own ranks and civilian allies from the street, and old enemies in charge of Dutch intelligence.
Surrounded by both external and internal enemies, the heroes must unite and trust each other as they fight for the common goal of independence. [4]
The prequel film to Darah Garuda, namely Merah Putih was released a year before this film, in August 2009. In the future, the film Hati Merdeka will be released, which is the final film of the Merah Putih trilogy.
