Darren Ross Power is an Australian politician who served as the mayor of the City of Logan from 2020 to 2024. [2] Prior to his election as mayor, Power served as Logan City Councillor for Division 10 from 1997 to 2019, and as Advocate for the City of Logan from 2019 to 2020. [3]
After serving as the Councillor for Division 10 for 22 years, Power and all other councillors for Logan City were terminated by the Queensland Government in May 2019 and a temporary administrator was appointed. [4] The decision followed the Crime and Corruption Commission charging 8 of 12 sitting councillors with official corruption one week earlier. [5] Mr Power and 3 other councillors gave evidence to the Crime and Corruption Commission prior to charges being laid, and were subsequently given official advisory positions by the temporary administrator. [6]
Power was elected mayor of Logan on 28 March 2020, achieving 36.62% of the primary vote and placing first in a field of 8 candidates. [7]
Although elected to the mayoralty as an independent candidate, Power had previously been a member of the Liberal National Party of Queensland, the National Party, [8] and the Australian Labor Party respectively.
While the incumbent councillor for Logan City Council's Division 10, Power stood as the National Party candidate for Springwood in the 2001 Queensland state election, as an independent candidate for the Division of Rankin in the 2004 Australian federal election, [9] and was the endorsed Liberal National candidate for Springwood at the 2009 Queensland state election, however resigned as a candidate to avoid having to resign his seat on council. [10]
In 2010, Power announced his resignation from the Liberal National Party, citing the party's treatment of Beaudesert state MP and former party member Aidan McLindon. [11] [12]
He is the father of professional gamer Lachlan Power. [13]

The City of Logan is a local government area (LGA) located in the south of Greater Brisbane in South East Queensland (SEQ), Australia. Situated between the City of Brisbane to the north and the City of Gold Coast to the south, the City of Logan also borders the Scenic Rim Region, the City of Ipswich, and Redland City LGAs. Logan is divided into 70 suburbs and 12 divisions; a councillor is elected to each of the latter. The council had a population of 326,615 as of June 2018.

Aidan Patrick McLindon is an Australian politician. He was first elected for the seat of Beaudesert to the Queensland State Parliament for the Liberal National Party at the 2009 state election. He resigned from that party to become an independent in May 2010, and in June 2010 he established The Queensland Party, which he merged with Katter's Australian Party in August 2011. He lost his seat to the LNP at the 2012 election. Bob Katter appointed McLindon as National Director for the newly created Katter's Australian Party. 18 months later McLindon resigned to spend more time with his family. McLindon established an independent political consultancy, AMac Consultants Pty Ltd, following the 2013 federal election.
