Darryl Fisher is a New Zealand former professional rugby league footballer, coach and administrator who played professionally for the Western Suburbs Magpies. His father, Kevin, represented New Zealand.

Playing & Coaching career

Fisher first played for the Waikato Cougars in the 1996 Lion Red Cup. He was the Lion Red Cup Rookie of the Year that season. [2] Fisher was also a member of the Cougars squad that won the inaugural Sky Challenge Cup in 1997 but was injured during the finals series.

Fisher then joined the Western Suburbs in the new National Rugby League competition and played ten matches for them during the 1998 season. [1] Fisher continued with Wests until the end of the 2000 season in the NSW First Division competition.

Fisher was a member of the Waikato Rugby Union Sevens squad in 2001-2002 and was selected in New Zealand Sevens Training Squads during this time.

From 2003 until 2005 Fisher played for, and later became the assistant coach of, the Hibiscus Coast Raiders in the Bartercard Cup. [3] In 2006 he, along with four Raiders players, travelled to the UK to Join London Skolars in Championship One where Fisher was both assistant coach and player. [4] [5] [6]

In 2007 Fisher became the player-coach of the Orara Valley Axemen in the Group 2 Rugby League competition. [7] In 2008 the club won the minor premiership and then went on to win the Grand Final. [8] [9] Fisher remained in the role until 2010 and then became the Club President. [10] He served as president until 2011, leaving the area due to work commitments. [11]

In 2013 Fisher coached Gold Coast Green in the Cyril Connell Cup In 2014 he coached Gold Coast Green in the Mal Meninga Cup as well as coaching the South East Queensland Under 16 side who were victorious in the under 16 state carnival Fisher then coached the Burleigh Bears Colts premiership winning side in 2015 In 2017 Fisher coached the Tweed Heads Seagulls A Grade side in the Gold Coast competition. Since 2018 he has served as an assistant coach with the Tweed Seagulls IntrustSuper Cup side

The Waikato rugby league team is a New Zealand rugby league team that represents the Waikato Rugby League in New Zealand Rugby League competitions. They competed in the Lion Red Cup from 1994 to 1996, the Super League Challenge Cup in 1997 and the Bartercard Premiership in 2008 and 2009.

Group 18 is the name of a junior rugby league competition on the far north coast of New South Wales, Australia. Currently, the group has no senior competition. Prior to 2005, there was a joint Gold Coast-Group 18 competition which fielded teams from both the Queensland and New South Wales sides of the border. With the Burleigh Bears joining the Queensland Cup in 1997 and the Tweed Heads Seagulls joining them in 2003, the combined competition started to lose some of its lustre. In 2005, it was dissolved with the remaining Queensland teams forming a dedicated Gold Coast competition and the NSW teams joining an expanded Group 1 competition, now named Northern Rivers Regional Rugby League. Shannon Walker, is an Indigenous Australian professional rugby union footballer who plays Sevens Rugby for Australia. He previously played Rugby League with the Gold Coast Titans of the National Rugby League. His position of choice is as at Fullback but he can play on the Wing

John Harvey is an Australian former professional rugby league footballer who played in the 1970s and 1980s, and coached in the 1990s. He played for Manly-Warringah and Eastern Suburbs and coached the Gold Coast Seagulls and the Salford City Reds. Harvey primarily played at prop.

The 2002 New Zealand rugby league season was the 95th season of rugby league that had been played in New Zealand. The main feature of the year was the third season of the Bartercard Cup competition that was run by the New Zealand Rugby League. The Mt Albert Lions won the Cup by defeating the Hibiscus Coast Raiders 24–20 in the Grand Final.

The New Zealand rugby league season 1997 was the 90th season of rugby league that had been played in New Zealand. The main feature of the year was the Super League Challenge Cup that was run by the New Zealand Rugby League. Waikato won the Challenge Cup by defeating Canterbury 34-18 and also ended the season holding the Rugby League Cup.

The Northern Rivers Regional Rugby League (NRRRL) is a rugby league competition run in the far north of New South Wales, Australia. It is run under the auspices of the Country Rugby League. The league formed in 2005 as an extended Group 1 Rugby League competition, featuring teams from Group 18 Rugby League. Prior to this, teams from Group 18 played in a competition with teams from the Gold Coast region of Queensland. Both Group 1 and Group 18 continue to run junior competitions.

The 2012 Queensland Cup season was the 17th season of Queensland's top-level statewide rugby league competition run by the Queensland Rugby League. The competition, known as the Intrust Super Cup due to sponsorship from Intrust Super, featured 12 teams playing a 26-week long season from March to September.
