Daryl Bamonte is an English musician, music publisher, record label head and artist manager, known for working for Depeche Mode and the Cure. [1] He is the owner of Archangelo Music, [2] an Ambassador for Europe in Synch, [3] a consultant for Schubert Music Europe, [4] and the keyboardist in Permafrost.
Bamonte worked with Depeche Mode early in their career, setting up and taking down equipment for the band. [5] As the band gained success, Bamonte became their road manager. He is credited in the commentary for the 101 documentary as the fifth member of Depeche Mode. [6]
Bamonte worked on various albums with the band, and in various roles. He worked as an assistant on Violator , project manager on Songs of Faith and Devotion album [7] and album co-ordinator on Songs of Faith and Devotion Live . [8]
In 1994, Andy Fletcher had to leave the tour due to illness. Bamonte replaced him for the second leg of the 1994 Summer Tour, as well as six shows in South America. [5]
After having previously toured with the Cure in the mid-1980s, Bamonte began working with the band again in 1995 alongside his older brother Perry, the band's lead guitarist at the time. Bamonte was a project coordinator on Bloodflowers , Join the Dots , and a number of remastered album reissues. [9] He also served as the executive producer for the Trilogy DVD [6] [10] and the band's 2004 self-titled album alongside Robert Smith. [11] His work with the Cure ended in 2005.
Bamonte was one of three members in the band Compact Space, along with Christian Eigner and Florian Kraemmer. In the band, Bamonte wrote the lyrics, Eigner wrote the music, and Kraemmer assembled the melodies. Their first album Nameless and the Push Push EP were released in June 2011. [12]
Bamonte is a consultant for Schubert Music Europe and the head of the Atlantic Curve record label. [13] [4] Since forming in 2020, Atlantic Curve has released albums by artists such as I Like Trains, [14] Laura Carbone, and the Burn album by Lisa Gerrard and Jules Maxwell from Dead Can Dance, [15] [16] which was produced by James Chapman from Maps.
Bamonte was an executive producer for the Cure's live Trilogy film from 2003, [17] and their self-titled album from 2004. He fulfilled the same role for Roger O'Donnell's 2 Ravens album, [18] [19] Lisa Gerrard and Jules Maxwell's Burn album, [20] [9] [21] and Maxwell's Nocturnes album. [22] In 2022, he was executive producer for Exaudia, [23] a collaborative album from Lisa Gerrard and Marcello De Francisci. [24] [25]
Bamonte formed Archangelo Music in 2021. [26] The label's first release was Jules Maxwell's Nocturnes album. [22] The album received praise from some of Maxwell's contemporaries such as Roger O'Donnell from the Cure, Lisa Gerrard and Brendan Perry from Dead Can Dance, James Chapman from Maps, and Foy Vance. Archangelo Music also includes Archangelo Songs. As well as Archangelo Recordings, Bamonte has also formed an additional label, Bamala Newtown.
Bamonte is also an ambassador for the Europe in Synch organisation. [27]
Permafrost is a post-punk band, originally from Molde in Norway, which was formed in 1982 by school friends Frode Heggdal Larsen and Kåre Steinsbu. Robert Heggdal and Trond Tornes joined in 2001, and Bamonte in 2016. [28] [29]
To date they have released the Godtment EP in 1983, the Permafrost EP in 2019, [30] and in 2021 released three singles—"Femme Fatale", "Closed Eyes", and "Restore Us" [31] [32] —which all went to number 1 on the Indie Disko Top40 Chart.[ citation needed ] In February 2022, their single "Come Back to Surprise" reached number 3 on the Deutsche Alternative Chart [33] and number 5 on the Indie Disko Top40 Chart. [34] Their first album is expected to be released in 2023.
The Cure are an English rock band formed in 1978 in Crawley, West Sussex. Throughout numerous lineup changes since the band's formation, guitarist, lead vocalist, and songwriter Robert Smith has remained the only constant member, though bassist Simon Gallup has been present for all but about three years of the band's history. Their debut album, Three Imaginary Boys (1979), along with several early singles, placed the band at the forefront of the emerging post-punk and new wave movements that had sprung up in the United Kingdom. Beginning with their second album, Seventeen Seconds (1980), the band adopted a new, increasingly dark and tormented style, which, together with Smith's stage look, had a strong influence on the emerging genre of gothic rock as well as the subculture that eventually formed around the genre.
Violator is the seventh studio album by English electronic music band Depeche Mode. It was first released on 19 March 1990 by Mute Records internationally, and by Sire and Reprise Records in the United States.
Lisa Germaine Gerrard is an Australian musician, singer and composer and member of the music group Dead Can Dance with music partner Brendan Perry. She is known for her unique singing style technique (glossolalia). She has a dramatic contralto voice and has a vocal range of three octaves.
Dead Can Dance is the debut studio album by Australian musical act Dead Can Dance. It was released on 27 February 1984 on the 4AD label.
EMF are an English alternative rock band from Cinderford, Gloucestershire, who came to prominence at the beginning of the 1990s. During their initial eight-year run, from 1989 to 1997, the band released three studio albums before a hiatus. Their first single, "Unbelievable", reached number 3 on the UK Singles Chart, and was a number 1 hit on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart. Their debut album, Schubert Dip, went to number 3 on the UK Albums Chart. In April 2022, EMF released their first album of new material in 27 years, Go Go Sapiens.
Bloodflowers is the eleventh studio album by English rock band The Cure. It was first released in Japan on 2 February 2000, before being released in the UK and Europe on 14 February 2000 and then the day after in the US by Fiction Records and Polydor Records. Initially the album was to be released in 1999, as it had been completed by May that year, the record company wanted it to be released “post millennial fever,”.
Music for the Masses is the sixth studio album by the English electronic music band Depeche Mode, released on 28 September 1987 by Mute Records. The album was supported by the Music for the Masses Tour, which launched their fame in the US when they performed at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California. The tour led to the creation and filming of the documentary/live album titled 101. This saw the band using heavy amounts of sampling, much like they did in their previous studio album Black Celebration (1986).
Songs of Faith and Devotion is the eighth studio album by English electronic music band Depeche Mode. It was first released on 22 March 1993 in the United Kingdom by Mute Records and a day later in the United States by Sire Records and Reprise Records. The album incorporated a more aggressive, darker rock-oriented tone than its predecessor Violator (1990), largely influenced by the emerging alternative rock and grunge scenes in the United States.
Songs of Faith and Devotion Live is the second live album by English electronic music band Depeche Mode, released on 6 December 1993 by Mute Records. Recorded during the band's 1993 Devotional Tour, the album consists mainly of performances recorded in Liévin, France, with two other tracks recorded in Copenhagen and New Orleans, respectively. It was a track-by-track live duplication of Depeche Mode's eighth studio album, Songs of Faith and Devotion, which was released earlier in 1993.
Steven James Hewitt is an English musician, singer-songwriter and record producer. He is the frontman of his own band, Love Amongst Ruin. Hewitt is best known for his tenure as the drummer for Placebo between September 1996 and October 2007. He plays drums and guitar left-handed.
Andrew John Fletcher, also known as Fletch, was an English keyboard player and founding member of the electronic band Depeche Mode. In 2020, he and the band were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Alan Charles Wilder is an English musician, composer, arranger, record producer and member of the electronic band Depeche Mode from 1982 to 1995. Since his departure from the band, the musical project called Recoil became his primary musical enterprise, which initially started as a side project to Depeche Mode in 1986. Wilder has also provided production and remixing services to the bands Nitzer Ebb and Curve. Alan Wilder was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2020 as a member of Depeche Mode. He is a classically trained musician.
Perry Archangelo Bamonte is an English musician and artist, best known as a multi-instrumentalist for The Cure from 1990 to 2005, and again since 2022.

"A Letter to Elise" is a song by English rock band the Cure, released as the third and final single from the album Wish on 5 October 1992. In 2010, Pitchfork Media ranked it at number 184 in their list of "The Top 200 Tracks of the 1990s".
The Exotic Tour/Summer Tour '94 was a 1994 concert tour by English electronic group Depeche Mode in support of the act's eighth studio album, Songs of Faith and Devotion, which was released in March 1993. The tour is an extension of the Devotional Tour in 1993, which reached Europe and North America. The tour visited territories which the band had never performed in or had not toured in for some time, reaching Africa, Asia, Australia, and South America. The tour commenced in Johannesburg, South Africa in early February. As of 2016, this was the last tour the group visited Australia, Southeast Asia or South Africa. In May 1994, the group visited North America on the "Summer Tour, '94". This was the second leg of North American dates promoting Songs of Faith and Devotion and took place mostly in outdoor venues and amphitheatres.
Das Shadow is a band created by Andrew Phillpott, who is known for co-writing with Christian Eigner and Dave Gahan from Depeche Mode. Das Shadow started as a production/remix project, remixing for Dave Gahan, Yazoo and Veto.
Alexander Ridha, better known by his stage name Boys Noize, is a German electronic music record producer, songwriter, and DJ. In 2005, Ridha established his label, Boysnoize Records. Ridha has remixed the work of a number of other artists, including Snoop Dogg and Depeche Mode. In 2019, he produced Frank Ocean's song "DHL".
Lose Your Way is the second studio album by the British rock band Love Amongst Ruin. It was released by Ancient B Records on 29 June 2015 and has been described as "an album from an artist over the hump, head high to the future and all engines gunning".
"Tokyo" is the fourth single off of White Lies' fifth studio album, Five. The single was released three weeks prior to Five's release, on 10 January 2019, and was released with a corresponding music video.
