David Richard Borkowski (born February 7,1977) is an American former professional baseball relief pitcher He began his Major League Baseball (MLB) career in 1999 with the Detroit Tigers,and briefly appeared with the Baltimore Orioles in 2004. From 2006 to 2008,he played for the Houston Astros. Borkowski spent part of the 2009 season in the Philadelphia Phillies organization but did not get the call.
In 2018,he became the pitching coach for the Tulsa Drillers. [1] He was promoted to pitching coach for the Oklahoma City Dodgers in 2022. [2]
Borkowski attended Sterling Heights High School in Sterling Heights,Michigan and was a letterman in basketball and baseball.
Borkowski married his wife Jill in 2002 and the longtime couple used their baseball platform to raise awareness and funding for pet overpopulation,animal adoption,and the importance of spay/neuter,in addition to spearheading the Houston Astros Player &Pet Calendar. Jill took on other philanthropic work including co-chairing the Houston Astros Wives Gala and participating in the Astros Wives/Rangers Wives Charity Softball Game. The couple has no children and resided in Toledo,Ohio.
While working for the Texas Rangers and serving as the bullpen coach for the Round Rock Express (their AAA affiliate),Borkowski engaged in an extra-martial affair with Carol Kilborn Baring (born May 13,1964 = 61 years old) who was married to Rick Baring at the time. Court records show the Baring's and the Borkowski's both filed for divorce in 2024.
