Dave Dahl is a meteorologist who used to work for KSTP-TV in Minnesota.

Personal life and history

Dahl was born and raised in Minnesota. He first became interested in studying the weather when he witnessed several tornados as a child in Circle Pines. He is a 1972 graduate of Centennial High School [1] He received his bachelor's degree in meteorology from Florida State University. [2] Dahl has given presentations about meteorology to students in Minnesota and Wisconsin for the past 25 years.

Career

Dahl began working for KSTP-TV on July 29, 1977, as a production assistant/meteorologist for the weather department as the station had eight others in what was dubbed by the station as "The Largest Television Weather Service in the World." He eventually got on the air during a 1979 broadcast of KSTP-TV's morning news program "Country Morning," which aired from 6-7am on the weekdays. He eventually moved through the ranks, eventually becoming Chief Meteorologist in 1986, replacing longtime chief Dennis Feltgen (who moved on to WUSA-TV, eventually KARE-TV in 1987). Today, he gives the weather forecast on weeknights for 5 Eyewitness News, Eyewitness News on 45TV (KSTC-TV), and also for the radio stations KS95 and 1500 ESPN Twin Cities. He currently (as of 2017) shares the weather deal with morning weather meteorologists’ Ken Barlow and Jonathan Yuhas, both who had previously had been at KARE-TV during the 1990s and 2000s (Barlow was Chief Meteorologist of KARE after its longtime chief Paul Douglas moved to WBBM in Chicago in 1994, and moved to WCCO in 1997). In 1998, the Minnesota Broadcaster's Association named him Broadcaster of the Year. [3] Dahl also produced stories about tornado-chasing for The Weather Channel and The Discovery Channel. Along with the KSTP-TV news team, he received the 2003 Upper Midwest Emmy Award for Single Newscast. [4] In 2008, he founded MyTiWi.com, a weather forecasting website. [5] He cites the sun's impact as the primary influence in global warming [6] and not greenhouse gasses. On December 30, 2020, Dave Dahl signed off one last time at the end of the 6:30 pm Newscast after 43 years of being at 5 Eyewitness News. [7]

For 27 years of his career he was at the television station WTNH in New Haven, Connecticut, where he started in 1984 and was senior meteorologist until 2011, and later with WTIC-TV in Hartford, Connecticut, where he was the weeknight 5:00 and 11:00 p.m. meteorologist, reported science and technology stories for the 4:00 p.m. newscast and was host for a garden segment titled "Geoff's Garden".

John Patrick is the Chief Meteorologist at WZVN-TV in Fort Myers, Florida. John delivers the forecast weekday evenings on ABC7 News at 6pm, 7pm & 11pm. Prior to officially being named Chief Meteorologist on August 5, 2011, John was the meteorologist on ABC7 Morning News and ABC7 News at 9am from April 4, 2005 through April 6, 2011, when John moved to the evening newscasts on a trial basis.

James Max Spann Jr. is a television meteorologist and podcast host based in Birmingham, Alabama. He currently works for WBMA-LD, Birmingham's ABC affiliate. Spann has worked in the field since 1978, and is often praised for his easy-to-understand and likely life-saving forecasting during the destructive 2011 Super Outbreak. He is also the host of the weekly podcast WeatherBrains which he started in 2006. He is also a climate skeptic, repeatedly claiming climate change is part of natural cycles, although he has also stated that he is not an expert in that area of the field.

After nearly twenty years on weekday mornings, Bernier moved to the weekday prime-time on May 28, 2007.

Johnson has also served meteorology lecturer at North Carolina State University since 2010.

Nicole Lynn Mitchell is an American on-camera meteorologist. Mitchell is also a Lieutenant Colonel in the Air National Guard, commanding the 126th Weather Flight. She previously served in the U.S. Air Force Reserve, assigned to the 53rd Weather Reconnaissance Squadron at Keesler Air Force Base, Mississippi, as an aerial reconnaissance weather officer. She worked at the Weather Channel from 2004 to 2011 and with Al Jazeera America from 2013 to 2016. After some time as a freelance meteorologist at CBS News, she returned home to Minnesota. She started working at KSTP-TV in Minneapolis-St. Paul in June 2017.

Kenneth John Barlow is an American television meteorologist currently with KSTP-TV in Minneapolis.

David Bernard is an American television meteorologist who works for WVUE-TV in New Orleans, Louisiana. He previously worked for CBS News and television stations in Miami, Florida, and Tulsa, Oklahoma.
