Dave Hamelin (born October 3, 1980) is a Canadian musician, songwriter and producer known for his work with indie rock band the Stills. Originally the band's drummer, he moved to guitar and co-lead vocalist in 2005 when guitarist Greg Paquet left the band.
On March 28, 2009, the Stills were awarded two Juno Awards for their album Oceans Will Rise, in the categories of Best New Group and Best Alternative Album. [1] In 2010, Paquet rejoined and Hamelin moved back to drums. [2] The Stills announced their breakup on April 15, 2011. [3]
In 2009, Hamelin formed the band Eight and a Half with Stills' keyboardist Liam O'Neil and Broken Social Scene drummer Justin Peroff. They released their self-titled debut in 2012.
From 2013 onward, Hamelin has worked frequently as a producer. [4]
He co-produced and mixed Broken Social Scene frontman Kevin Drew's second solo record, Darlings (2014); [5] co-produced and mixed Andy Kim's It's Decided (2015) with Drew and Ohad Benchetrit; [6] co-produced and mixed the Tragically Hip's album Man Machine Poem (2016) with Drew; [7] and co-produced and mixed Gord Downie's album Secret Path (2016). In 2016, he mixed the Sam Roberts Band album TerraForm
He produced and mixed the Belle Game's 2016 single "Yuh", [9] as well as their 2017 album Fear Nothing. [10]
In 2017, Hamelin played on and mixed Downie's final album, Introduce Yerself . [11]
Hamelin co-wrote, produced and mixed the Leikeli47 track "Chain Gang" for the soundtrack to the 2018 film Uncle Drew . [12]
Hamelin produced 9 songs on 070 Shake's 2020 album Modus Vivendi [13] and was an executive producer on her sophomore album You Can't Kill Me , [14] contributing to every song on the album.

The Tragically Hip, often referred to simply as the Hip, was a Canadian rock band formed in Kingston, Ontario in 1984, consisting of vocalist Gord Downie, guitarist Paul Langlois, guitarist Rob Baker, bassist Gord Sinclair, and drummer Johnny Fay. They released 13 studio albums, one live album, one EP, and over 50 singles over a 33-year career. Nine of their albums have reached No. 1 on the Canadian charts. They have received numerous Canadian music awards, including 17 Juno Awards. Between 1996 and 2016, the Tragically Hip were the best-selling Canadian band in Canada and the fourth best-selling Canadian artist overall in Canada.

Secret Path is a Canadian multimedia storytelling project including a ten-song music album and tour, a graphic novel, an animated television film, and instructional materials. Released on October 18, 2016, the centrepiece of the project is a concept album about Chanie Wenjack, a young Anishinaabe boy from the Marten Falls First Nation who died in 1966 while trying to return home after escaping from an Indian residential school.
Introduce Yerself is the sixth solo album by Canadian singer and songwriter Gord Downie, released posthumously on October 27, 2017, ten days after his death. A double album consisting of 23 songs which Downie has described as each being about specific people in his life, it was the last solo album Downie completed, although his brothers Patrick and Mike subsequently confirmed that additional unreleased material would be released in the future; the album Away Is Mine, which comprises the last songs Downie ever recorded and was completed by producer Nyles Spencer following Downie's death, was released in 2020.
