Simple Plan is a Canadian rock band from Montreal, Quebec. Formed in 1999, the band's current lineup consists of Pierre Bouvier, Chuck Comeau (drums), Jeff Stinco, and Sébastien Lefebvre. David Desrosiers joined the band in early 2000 and left in July 2020.
The Tragically Hip, often referred to simply as the Hip, was a Canadian rock band formed in Kingston, Ontario in 1984, consisting of vocalist Gord Downie, guitarist Paul Langlois, guitarist Rob Baker, bassist Gord Sinclair, and drummer Johnny Fay. They released 13 studio albums, one live album, one EP, and over 50 singles over a 33-year career. Nine of their albums have reached No. 1 on the Canadian charts. They have received numerous Canadian music awards, including 17 Juno Awards. Between 1996 and 2016, the Tragically Hip were the best-selling Canadian band in Canada and the fourth best-selling Canadian artist overall in Canada.
The Grapes of Wrath is a Canadian alternative rock band. Formed in 1983, the group enjoyed their greatest commercial success in the late 1980s and early 1990s. The group split in 1992, with Kane going solo while Jones and the Hoopers continued to record as Ginger. Vocalists Tom Hooper and Kevin Kane briefly reunited as the Grapes of Wrath for one album in 2000. With the return of Chris Hooper for a festival appearance in 2010, the three founding members were back together and have continued to perform and record since.

Blue Peter was a Canadian new wave synthpop band founded in 1978 in Markham, Ontario, by Chris Wardman and Paul Humphrey. In their heyday, Blue Peter opened for major international acts such as the Police and Simple Minds. The video for "Don't Walk Past", directed by Rob Quartly, was No. 85 on MuchMusic's top videos of the century list, and was played on MTV in the United States, in spite of the lack of American record distribution for the band. Humphrey died on April 4, 2021, after a long illness.

We Were Born in a Flame is the debut full-length studio album by Canadian rock musician and singer/songwriter Sam Roberts. A re-recorded version of "Where Have All the Good People Gone?" was released as the album's first single in Canada and had a music video made for it. "Hard Road" was also released as a single with a music video in Canada. The songs "Brother Down" and "Don't Walk Away Eileen" had been previously released as radio/video singles in Canada to promote Roberts' previous EP, The Inhuman Condition. "Brother Down" was also re-recorded for this album. In the United States, "Brother Down" was used to promote the album, while in the United Kingdom, "Don't Walk Away Eileen" was used.
The Inhuman Condition is the first solo studio release by Canadian musician Sam Roberts, released in 2002. The tracks featured reworked versions of his demo "Brother Down" together with producer and percussionist Jordon Zadorozny. The EP peaked at #32 on the Canadian album chart after just nine weeks of being released. This is due mainly to the success of the first single, "Brother Down". The follow-up single, "Don't Walk Away Eileen", further increased the popularity of the EP in the winter of 2002-2003. The album has sold over 50,000 copies and has been certified Gold in Canada. Pitchfork described the EP as "a sturdy, respectable and, intermittently, even thrilling first effort from an artist who has much to say". In 2013 the EP was re-released on vinyl through Paper Bag Records.

The song reached number one on Canada's singles chart, and is the band's most successful single in their native Canada. It was one of the 10 most-played songs in Canada in 1996. The song was nominated for "Best Single" at the 1997 Juno Awards. The song was certified platinum in Canada in 2016.
"I'm an Adult Now" is a song by Canadian band The Pursuit of Happiness (TPOH). It was written in 1985, produced independently, and first released in 1986 as a 12-inch single. Later that year, the band released a self-produced music video. As a result of the video viewership, all copies of the 12-inch single the band had pressed sold out. The song was nominated for "Single of the Year" at the 1987 CASBY Awards. The band became an "independent success story" because of the song and video, and owing to this popularity was signed by Chrysalis Records in 1988. In 1988, a rerecorded version of the song was released.
