David Allen is an English politician,the current Police,Fire,and Crime Commissioner for Cumbria,representing the Labour Party. He was elected to the post on 3 May 2024,succeeding the previous incumbent,Peter McCall. [1]
Allen served as a police officer in the Cumbria Constabulary from 1986 to 2000,thereafter in the National Criminal Intelligence Service and later led the UK's Bureau at Europol before his retirement in 2016. [2]

Barker Crossing was a pedestrian footbridge in Workington,Cumbria,England that crossed the River Derwent,and linked the north and south sides of the town. Army engineers built it in November 2009 after flooding put the town's bridges out of use,and removed it in February 2011. The bridge was named after police officer Bill Barker,who died when the Northside Bridge in Workington collapsed below him.
The Cumbria shootings were a shooting spree that occurred on 2 June 2010 when a lone gunman,taxi driver Derrick Bird,killed twelve people and injured eleven others in Cumbria,England,United Kingdom. Along with the 1987 Hungerford massacre and the 1996 Dunblane school massacre,it is one of the worst criminal acts involving firearms in British history. The shootings ended when Bird killed himself in a wooded area after abandoning his car in the village of Boot.

Trudy Lynne Harrison is a British Conservative Party politician who has been the Member of Parliament (MP) for Copeland since the February 2017 by-election. It was the first time Copeland had elected a Conservative MP since 1931,and the first time the constituency had elected a female MP. Three months after her by-election victory,Harrison was re-elected in the 2017 general election and held her seat in 2019.
Elections of police and crime commissioners in England and Wales were held on 6 May 2021,on the same day as the Senedd election in Wales and the local elections in England. This was the third time police and crime commissioner elections have been held. The elections were originally due to take place in May 2020 but were postponed by 12 months in view of the COVID-19 pandemic. Turnout was an average of 34.1% across the elections,with Wales having much higher turnout mainly due to the simultaneous Senedd election held across Wales,whereas only parts of England had simultaneous local elections.
