David J. Frederickson (born March 2,1944) is an American politician who served as Commissioner of the Minnesota Department of Agriculture from January 2011 to 2019,and previously as a member of the Minnesota Senate from West Central Minnesota from 1987 to 1993. [3]
Born in Murdock,Minnesota,Frederickson graduated from St. Cloud State University,earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Education. A fourth-generation farmer,he earned a reputation as a strong advocate for farmers and agricultural issues,education and tax reform. [3]
First elected to the Senate in 1986 in the Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party’s “firestorm”that swept through the region,giving Democrats unprecedented control of southwestern Minnesota for the next several election cycles,Frederickson served two terms. He was re-elected in 1990. He represented the old District 20A,which included all or portions of Chippewa,Lac qui Parle,Redwood,Swift and Yellow Medicine counties. [3]
While in the legislature,Frederickson was a member of the Senate Agriculture and Rural Development,Education,Local and Urban Government,Taxes and Tax Laws and Governmental Operations committees,and of various sub-committees relevant to each area. He chaired the Agriculture and Rural Development Subcommittee on Agriculture Resources during the 1991 and 1992 sessions. [3]
After Frederickson's service in the legislature concluded,he was elected president of the Minnesota Farmers Union,serving from 1991 to 2002. In 2002,he was elected president of the National Farmers Union,a national federation of State Farmers Union organizations in the United States and the second largest general farm organization in the country,serving until 2006. [4] In 2009,he received the NFU’s Meritorious Award for his years of service on behalf of Minnesota and American farmers. He worked as an Agricultural Outreach Director for U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar from 2007 to 2010. [3] [5]
On December 21,2010,Minnesota Governor-elect Mark Dayton announced that Frederickson would be the state's new commissioner of agriculture,succeeding long-time commissioner and former state representative Gene Hugoson,who held the position since 1995. He took over the department on January 3,2011. [5] [6]

James Murray Vickerman was an American politician from Minnesota who served as Minnesota State Senator,first elected in 1986 in the Minnesota Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party's "firestorm" that swept southwestern Minnesota during the height of the 1980s Midwestern farm crisis. In that election,he unseated incumbent Senator Doran Isackson,winning by a substantial margin. He was re-elected in 1990,1992,1996,2000,2002 and 2006. On February 22,2010,he announced that he would not seek an eighth term,noting that he was doing so "with the satisfaction that when it's done right,our government can and does serve people." His term officially ended on January 3,2011.
Margaret Anderson Kelliher is an American politician,Director of the Minneapolis Department of Public Works,former Commissioner of the Minnesota Department of Transportation,and a former member of the Minnesota House of Representatives. A member of the Minnesota Democratic–Farmer–Labor Party,she represented District 60A,which includes portions of the city of Minneapolis in Hennepin County,located in the Twin Cities metropolitan area. First elected in 1999,she served until 2011,also serving as the Speaker from 2007 to 2011. She is the second woman to hold the position of House speaker. She was an unsuccessful candidate for the DFL nomination for Governor of Minnesota in the 2010 gubernatorial election,losing to former Senator Mark Dayton. Anderson left the Minnesota House of Representatives at the conclusion of her term in 2011 and re-entered politics when she ran for the DFL nomination to the U.S. House of Representatives in Minnesota's 5th congressional district in 2018,losing to Ilhan Omar. Since 2019 Kelliher,has worked in transportation management roles for the government,first as Commissioner of MnDOT,and later as Director of Public Works for the City of Minneapolis. She currently serves as the City Operations Officer for the City of Minneapolis.

Lawrence "Larry" J. Pogemiller is an American politician from Minnesota,and the Commissioner of the Minnesota Office of Higher Education. A member of the Minnesota Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party,he represented northeast Minneapolis districts in the Minnesota Legislature from 1981 to 2011,and served as the Senate's 9th majority leader from 2007 to 2011. As majority leader,he was chair of the Senate Rules Committee and its subcommittees,and also served on the Senate Tax Committee.

Anton Joseph "Tony" or "A. J." Eckstein was a Minnesota politician and a former member of the Minnesota House of Representatives from southwestern Minnesota. He represented the old District 17B and,later,28B,which included all or portions of Brown,Cottonwood and Nicollet counties,changing somewhat through redistricting in 1970.
Dennis R. Frederickson is a Republican politician from Minnesota and a former Minnesota State Senator. He was first elected in 1980 when he ran for the seat being vacated by Senator Carl Jensen,who was appointed to the Minnesota Tax Court and did not seek re-election. He was re-elected each cycle between 1982 and 2006,receiving only one serious challenge for the position back in 1982 from former New Ulm mayor and state representative Tony Eckstein. His later re-election committees were chaired by former state senator Earl Renneke.

A Democrat,he represented the old Districts 30A and 29B and,later,26B,which included all or portions of Blue Earth,Faribault,Freeborn,Martin and Waseca counties,changing somewhat through redistricting in 1980 and 1990. He was,along with senators Dennis Frederickson,Earl Renneke and Jim Vickerman,and representatives Gilbert Esau and Wendell Erickson,one of the longest-serving legislators from southern Minnesota in the state's history.
