David L. Gray (born 1972 in Warren, Ohio) is an American Catholic theologian, author, speaker, and media host. He is the president and publisher of Saint Dominic's Media and is a Catholic convert from Agnosticism/Deism. [2] Prior to his conversion to Catholicism, he was a Freemason and an author and speaker on the history of Prince Hall Freemasonry. [3]

Biography

David L. Gray was born in 1972 to Oscar Scott and Gwendolyn McCullough and was raised in Warren, Ohio. After battling academic challenges as a child, he went on to graduate from Warren G. Harding High School in 1991, and then from Central State University in 1997 with a bachelor of science degree in business management. [1] [3] After converting to Catholicism, he studied at Franciscan University of Steubenville and later earned his Master of Arts in Theology from Ohio Dominican University in 2017. After graduating from Ohio Dominican University, Gray founded Saint Dominic's Media, which has produced titles concerning Catholic liturgical theology and Catholic history. [4]

Prior to his conversion to Catholicism, Gray was a Freemason, [5] and, as such, he authored the book Inside Prince Hall [6] and had become District Deputy Grand Lecturer of the Prince Hall Grand Lodge of Ohio, an appointed officer in the Ohio Lodge of Research of the Grand Lodge of Ohio, the 2002 Australian & New Zealand Masonic Research Council touring lecturer, [7] elected a Fellow in the Phylaxis Society, co-founder and first editor-in-chief of the Dr. Charles H. Wesley Masonic Research Society, and elected to the Brotherhood of the Blue Forget Me Not, a mainstream US based organization, for his contributions to Masonic education.

After growing up nominally Protestant and frequenting the African Methodist Episcopal Church, [1] Gray has stated he owes his conversion to Catholicism through an encounter in 2004 with Jesus Christ who audibly spoke to him while he was in the process of attempting suicide, and then later attending a Catholic Mass, which eventually lead him to enter the Catholic Church in 2006, while still incarcerated (2004 - 2010) on charges related to embezzlement. From January 13, 2021, to early 2022, the David L. Gray Show - Voicing Truth and Reason was added to the Guadalupe Radio Network lineup. This weekly talk format program consisted of monologues and guest interviews on various aspects of the Catholic faith, with a politically-right perspective on social topics. [8] [9]

The United Grand Lodge of England (UGLE) is the governing Masonic lodge for the majority of freemasons in England, Wales, and the Commonwealth of Nations. Claiming descent from the Masonic Grand Lodge formed 24 June 1717 at the Goose & Gridiron Tavern in London, it is considered to be the oldest Masonic Grand Lodge in the world, together with the Grand Lodge of Scotland, and the Grand Lodge of Ireland.

Prince Hall Freemasonry is a branch of North American Freemasonry for African Americans founded by Prince Hall on September 29, 1784. There are two main branches of Prince Hall Freemasonry: the independent State Prince Hall Grand Lodges, most of which are recognized by State grand lodges, and those under the jurisdiction of the National Grand Lodge. Prince Hall Freemasonry is the oldest and largest predominantly African-American fraternity in the United States.

The Grand Lodge of Ireland is the second most senior Grand Lodge of Freemasons in the world, and the oldest in continuous existence. Since no specific record of its foundation exists, 1725 is the year celebrated in Grand Lodge anniversaries, as the oldest reference to Grand Lodge of Ireland comes from the Dublin Weekly Journal of 26 June 1725. This describes a meeting of the Grand Lodge to install the new Grand Master, The 1st Earl of Rosse, on 24 June. The Grand Lodge has regular Masonic jurisdiction over 13 Provincial Grand Lodges covering all the Freemasons of the island of Ireland, and another 11 provinces worldwide.

While many Christian denominations either allow or take no stance on their members joining Freemasonry, others discourage or prohibit their members from joining the fraternity.

There are many organisations and orders which form part of the widespread fraternity of Freemasonry, each having its own structure and terminology. Collectively these may be referred to as Masonic bodies, Masonic orders, Concordant bodies or appendant bodies of Freemasonry.

The Allied Masonic Degrees (AMD) are a series of Masonic degrees conferred by Councils of the Allied Masonic Degrees. The Allied Masonic Degrees form an appendant order of Freemasonry that exists in some Masonic jurisdictions; its degrees are conferred only by invitation. Councils of the Allied Masonic Degrees exist in Great Britain, the United States, Canada, France, Australia, India, Benin and Congo, and their members also educate one another by presenting research papers on Freemasonry.

The Grand Lodge of Free & Accepted Masons of Indiana is one of two statewide organizations that oversee Masonic lodges in the state of Indiana. It was established on January 13, 1818. The Grand Lodge of Indiana's offices and archives are located in the Indianapolis Masonic Temple. The historically black Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge of Indiana F&AM is the second regular Masonic grand lodge in the state, and it was originally established in 1856 as the Independent Union Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons of the State of Indiana. The two grand lodges agreed to mutual recognition in May 1998, and they jointly share sovereignty over the Masonic fraternity in Indiana.

The Most Worshipful National Grand Lodge Free & Accepted Ancient York Masons Prince Hall Origin National Compact USA is a body of Masonry in the United States of America composed predominantly of African American Freemasons. It governs Grand Lodges within the United States and the Commonwealth of The Bahamas.

The Grand Lodge of New Jersey Free & Accepted Masons is the official governing body of New Jersey Masonic Lodges as recognized by other Grand Jurisdictions throughout the world. As early as 1730, New Jersey was one of the first states with active Freemasonry. The Grand Lodge of NJ was formally established in 1787. The Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge of State of New Jersey and The Most Worshipful Grand Lodge of New Jersey recognize each other as Masonic Grand Lodges.

The Most Worshipful Smooth Ashlar Grand Lodge F&AAYM is a subordinate Masonic Grand Lodge of the Most Worshipful National Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Ancient York Masons Prince Hall Origin - National Compact in and for the State of Georgia. Through it subordination to the National Grand Lodge, Smooth Ashlar Grand Lodge has lineage to African Lodge No. 459.

In the letters to the early Christian churches of Smyrna and Philadelphia in Revelation 2:9 and 3:9, reference is made to a synagogue of Satan, in each case referring to a group persecuting the church "who say they are Jews and are not".

African Lodge, No. 459 was the founding lodge of Prince Hall Freemasonry. It is the lodge from which all modern Prince Hall Lodges trace their descent.
