David C. Monson (born July 30,1950) is an American politician in the state of North Dakota. He is a member of the North Dakota House of Representatives,representing the 19th district. A Republican,he was first elected in 1992 to represent the 10th district, [1] though now he serves the 19th district with Karen Anderson. An alumnus of North Dakota State University,he is a farmer. He is also a former director of the Osnabrock School Board,Assistant Majority Leader of the House of Representatives,and Speaker of the House of Representatives. [2]

The 2012 United States House of Representatives election in North Dakota was held on Tuesday,November 6,2012,to elect the U.S. representative from the state's at-large congressional district. The election coincided with the elections of other federal and state offices,including a quadrennial presidential election and an election to the U.S. Senate. A primary election was held on June 12,2012;a candidate must receive at least 300 votes to appear on the general election ballot in November.
