Gretchen Dobervich (born February 4,1973) is an American politician. He is a Democratic-NPL member of the North Dakota House of Representatives who has represented District 11 since October 2016. District 11 is in south central Fargo and includes Fargo South High,Carl Ben Eielson Middle School,Lewis and Clark Elementary,and Lindenwood Park. [2] [3]
Dobervich was born in Bismarck,North Dakota and was raised on a farm and ranch in Slope County,North Dakota. She graduated from Divide County High School in 1991. Dobervich received a Bachelor of Social Work from Minot State University. [4] She is married to Eric Michael Dobervich.
Dobervich is a licensed social worker in the state of North Dakota. She was previously employed by HCR ManorCare,FirstLINK and the Alzheimer's Association Minnesota-North Dakota. Dobervich is currently employed as Public Health Policy Manager for the American Indian Public Health Resource Center at North Dakota State University, [5] and is currently pursuing a Master of Public Health degree.
In 2016 she was appointed to the North Dakota House of Representatives [6] to fill a seat vacated by Representative Kris Wallman. [7] During the 65th Session of the North Dakota Legislature,Dobervich served on the House Industry,Business and Labor,and Transportation Committees. During the 65th Session Interim she served on the Health Services and Health Care Reform Committees. [8]
She serves as the current President of the North Dakota Rural Health Association, [5] and sits on the CHI Health at Home Board of Directors. [9] Dobervich is a member of the American Public Health Association,North Dakota Public Health Association,North Dakota Rural Health Association,the Daughters of the American Revolution Dakotah Chapter,American Legion Auxiliary Post 151 Harry W Lindberg,North Dakota Farmers Union and an Awesome Foundation Cass Clay trustee. She previously has served as the Chairperson,Co-Chair,and Secretary for the District 11 Dem-NPL.

The North Dakota Democratic–Nonpartisan League Party is the North Dakota affiliate of the national Democratic Party. It was formed as the outcome of a merger of two parties;the state previously had a three-party political system. It is one of only two state Democratic Party affiliates to have a different name from the central party,the other being the neighboring Minnesota Democratic–Farmer–Labor Party. The party currently has very weak electoral power in the state,controlling none of North Dakota's statewide or federal elected offices.

The 2024 North Dakota House of Representatives elections will be held on November 5,2024,as part of the biennial 2024 United States elections. In January of 2024,Federal District Court Judge Peter Welte required North Dakota to substantially alter Legislative District 9 in response to a lawsuit by the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa Indians and the Spirit Lake Tribe. The tribes alleged that the House of Representatives districts established by the North Dakota legislature violated the voting rights act by preventing members of the Spirit Lake Tribe from electing a candidate of their choice to the legislature. The court-ordered new District 9,which the Turtle Mountain and Spirit Lake tribes had proposed,includes both the Turtle Mountain and Spirit Lake reservations.
