United Future New Zealand, usually known as United Future, was a centrist political party in New Zealand. The party was in government between 2005 and 2017, first alongside Labour (2005–2008) and then supporting National (2008–2017).
The Mayor of Wellington City is the head of the municipal government of Wellington, New Zealand, and presides over the Wellington City Council. Adjacent local bodies – Lower Hutt, Upper Hutt, and Porirua – have their own mayors. The Mayor is directly elected using STV.

It was first created for the 1871 election and was abolished for two period, from 1875–1905 and again from 1946–1996. It was last created for the introduction of the MMP voting system for the 1996 election. The current MP is Poto Williams, a member of the New Zealand Labour Party who was first elected in the 2013 Christchurch East by-election.
Hutt South is a parliamentary electorate in the lower Hutt Valley of New Zealand. It is held by Chris Bishop of the National Party following the 2017 election. It was previously held by Trevor Mallard of the Labour Party who announced in July 2016 that he will not contest the seat, but will run as a list-only candidate with the intention of becoming Speaker of the House. Bishop's victory is the first time Hutt South has been held by a National Party MP since the electorate was created in 1996.
Nelson is a New Zealand parliamentary electorate, returning one Member of Parliament to the House of Representatives of New Zealand. From 1853 to 1860, the electorate was called Town of Nelson. From 1860 to 1881, it was City of Nelson. The electorate is the only one that has continuously existed since the 1st Parliament in 1853.
Ōhāriu, previously spelled Ohariu and then Ōhariu, is a New Zealand parliamentary electorate returning one Member of Parliament to the House of Representatives. It first existed from 1978 to 1993, and was recreated for the 2008 election. In 2008, it was the successor to Ohariu-Belmont, first contested at the first mixed-member proportional (MMP) election in 1996. Through its existence Ohariu-Belmont was represented by Peter Dunne, leader of the United Future party. Dunne contested and won the recreated electorate in 2008. He announced on 21 August 2017, he would not be seeking re-election in the 2017 general election.
Ikaroa-Rāwhiti is a New Zealand parliamentary Māori electorate. It was formed for the 1999 election and held by Parekura Horomia of the Labour Party until his death in 2013. A by-election to replace him was held on 29 June 2013 and was won by Labour's Meka Whaitiri, who remains the incumbent after the 2014 election.

The mayor is directly elected using the single transferable vote electoral system. There have been four mayors since the establishment of the borough council in 1962: the current mayor is Mike Tana, who was elected in October 2016.
Nicholas Oliver "Nick" Leggett is a former New Zealand politician and, as of 2016, a member of the New Zealand National Party. He was the previous Mayor of Porirua, and at the time of his election in October 2010, he was the youngest mayor in New Zealand.

The incumbent was Celia Wade-Brown, who was first elected in the 2010 mayoral election. Wade-Brown did not seek re-election. Her title was pursued by her deputy, Justin Lester, councillors Jo Coughlan, Andy Foster, Helene Ritchie and Nicola Young, former mayor of Porirua City Nick Leggett and independent candidates Keith Johnson and Johnny Overton.

As Wellington's longest serving City Councillor for 30 years, she served as deputy Labour Leader, then Labour Leader for six years -leading the Labour team to a majority position on the Council. Later she was the first female deputy mayor, chaired the Airport Authority for eight years and all New Zealand Airport Authorities for six.
