David Tiva Kapu is a Solomon Islands Anglican priest and the governor-general of Solomon Islands. [1] [2] [3]
Kapu received his Master of Theology degree from the Pacific Theological College. His thesis titled,"What has the Church to do with the State?" analyzed the role of church and state relationship in Nggela Islands,Solomon Islands from 1932 to 2007. [4]
Reverend Kapu has served as the academic dean of studies Bishop Patteson Theological College at Kohimarama,in Solomon Islands. [2]
In June 2024,he was the sole candidate put forward for nomination as the next Governor-General of Solomon Islands,the monarch's viceregal representative in the country. He was elected governor-general on 17 June 2024. [1] [5] He is scheduled to succeed Sir David Vunagi at the expiry of his term on 7 July 2024 (Independence Day),provided King Charles III gives his royal assent to approve Kapu's nomination. [2]

Solomon Islands is an independent Commonwealth realm,where executive power is exercised by the government. Legislative power is vested in both the government and a multi-party parliament.

Its capital and largest city,Honiara,is located on the largest island,Guadalcanal. The country takes its name from the wider area of the Solomon Islands archipelago,which is a collection of Melanesian islands that also includes the Autonomous Region of Bougainville,but excludes the Santa Cruz Islands.
The governor-general of Solomon Islands is the representative of the Solomon Islands' monarch,currently King Charles III,in Solomon Islands. Sir Frank Utu Ofagioro Kabui,GCMG,CSI,OBE KStJ was the Governor General of the Solomon Islands from 7 July 2009 to 7 July 2019.
Honiara is the capital and largest city of Solomon Islands,situated on the northwestern coast of Guadalcanal. As of 2021,it had a population of 92,344 people. The city is served by Honiara International Airport and the seaport of Point Cruz,and lies along the Kukum Highway. Sir David Okete Vuvuiri Vunagi,,is a retired Solomon Islands Anglican bishop who served as governor-general of Solomon Islands from 2019 to 2024. He was the archbishop of Melanesia and bishop of the Diocese of Central Melanesia from 2009 to 2015.
