The David Traylor Zoo is a small zoo located in Emporia, Kansas, United States. [3] Admission to the zoo is free. You can walk through the zoo to view the naturalized exhibits. [4] The zoo is located in Soden's Grove Park, which includes a small train that operates in the summer, the historical Marsh Arch Bridge, and an All Veterans Memorial. [5] [6]

Overview

The David Traylor Zoo is one of the smallest zoos in the United States that is accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA). [1] It features naturalized exhibits of native and exotic birds and animals, and is noted for its extensive landscaping. [3]

The Emporia Friends of the Zoo was founded in 1978, and provides financial support for expansion, development, and maintenance at the zoo. Funding for the Friends is primarily through membership and contributions. [7]

Animals at the zoo include ducks, prairie dog, Cinereous vultures, bison, mule deer, red foxes, cougar, and cotton-top tamarin. [5]

During the year, the zoo has various events including an annual Open House (the fourth Sunday in June), Boo in the Zoo at Halloween and Zoo Lights during the winter holiday season. [8]

Topeka Zoo

Cameron Park Zoo

Cameron Park Zoo is a 52-acre (21 ha) natural habitat zoo located within Cameron Park in the city of Waco, Texas, United States, next to the Brazos River. Established in July 1993, Cameron Park Zoo has lush native vegetation that surrounds splashing waterfalls, a picturesque lake and ponds. The Rosamond Gifford Zoo at Burnet Park is a zoo in Syracuse, New York. It is owned and operated by Onondaga County Parks with support from Friends of the Zoo. The zoo is home to more than 700 animals on 43 acres (17 ha). Some of the more popular animals include Asian elephants, Humboldt penguins, and Amur tigers. The zoo also houses a conservation education center, banquet/meeting space, Jungle Cafe, and gift shop.

Potter Park Zoo

The Potter Park Zoo is a 102-acre (41.3 ha) zoo located in Lansing, Michigan, within Lansing's Potter Park. Its mission is to Inspire people to conserve animals in the natural world. Potter Park Zoo is the oldest public zoo in Michigan and is currently home to over 160 species of animals. The zoo is owned by the City of Lansing, and operated by Ingham County. The zoo participates in the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) Species Survival Plan (SSP) designed to manage and conserve threatened or endangered animals. The Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine partners with the zoo to provide medical care for its animals.

Pueblo Zoo zoo in the United States

Pueblo Zoo is a 30-acre (12.1 ha) zoo located in Pueblo, Colorado in the United States. The zoo is open year-round and is home to over 420 animals of more than 140 species. The Pueblo Zoological Society manages the zoo, which is accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA). The original core of the zoo was built 1933–1940 by the Public Works Administration, Civilian Conservation Corps, and Works Progress Administration and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places as the Pueblo City Park Zoo.

The Bermuda Aquarium, Museum and Zoo (BAMZ) is a facility located in Flatts Village, Bermuda, about 700 mi (1,100 km) east of the United States and at the geographic center of Bermuda. It was established in 1926 by the Bermuda government to enhance a growing tourism industry and "to inspire appreciation and care of island environments."
