David "Tolu" Young (born 23 March 2005 [1] ) is a Fijian swimmer. [2] He specializes in sprint freestyle events.

Career

Young attended international school suva in Fiji and then later Curtis High School in Washington, being a state champion and the state record holder in the 50 m freestyle. [3]

In 2023, Young committed to swim collegiately at Arizona State University. [4] [5]

On 4 July 2024, the Fiji Association of Sports and National Olympic Committee (FASANOC) announced that Young would be representing Fiji at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, France. [6]

Young went on to win heat 5 of the Men's 50m Freestyle in a new national record time of 22.71 seconds, but failed to qualify for the semi-finals. [7]

Personal life

Young was born to an American father and a Fijian mother. He spent his childhood in Fiji before moving to the United States in 2019.

Young is related to Fijian swimmer Hansel McCaig. [8]

Justin Ress is an American swimmer. As a member of the USA national team Justin won the gold medal in the 50 meter backstroke at the 2022 FINA World Championships and was a member of the USA gold medal winning 4X100 free relay. He was also a key part of the USA team that defeated Australia in the resumption of the Duel in the Pool series in 2022. Ress competed as a member of the Cali Condors of the International Swimming League from 2019-2021 and looks forward to resumption of ISL in the near future. Ress was US national champion in the 100 backstroke in 2022 and 50 backstroke in 2017 after which he competed in the men's 50 meter backstroke event at the 2017 World Aquatics Championships. Ress swam collegiately for North Carolina State University where he was a 3-time NCAA champion, 21-time NCAA All-American, and 11-time ACC champion. In his first year at school he won the 2016 ACC Freshman of the Year award.

Katherine Cadwallader Douglass is an American competitive swimmer and student of statistics. A versatile swimmer who competes in many events, Douglass won her first major international medal at the 2020 Olympic Games with a bronze in the 200 m individual medley. She won three medals at the 2022 World Championships. Douglass then won six medals, including two golds, at the 2023 World Championships. Todd DeSorbo has been the head coach of the Virginia Cavaliers Swim team at the University of Virginia, since assuming the position in 2017. He served as an Assistant Coach for the 2021 US Tokyo Summer Olympics Women's Swim Team, and in September 2023 was named to be the Head Coach for the U.S. Women's Swim team at the 2024 Olympics in Paris.

At the 2024 Summer Olympics, he became Olympic Champion in the 200 m medley, 200 metre breaststroke, 200 metre butterfly, and 400 metre medley, becoming only the fourth swimmer in Olympic history to win four individual gold medals at a single Games.

Daniel Wiffen is an Irish swimmer who competes at the Olympic Games, world championships and European championships for Ireland and at the Commonwealth Games for Northern Ireland. He is the Olympic and world champion at 800 metres.

Bar Soloveychik is an Israeli swimmer. He holds the Israeli national records in both the 400m freestyle, and the 800m free. At the 2018 European Junior Swimming Championships, he won a gold medal as part of Israel's 4×200 m freestyle relay. He attends the University of Minnesota, where he has swum sprint, mid-distance, and distance events, and holds school records in the 200 free and 500 free. He won a gold medal at the 2022 Maccabiah Games in the 400 m freestyle. He competes in freestyle and open water. Soloveychik will represent Israel at the 2024 Paris Olympics at the Paris La Défense Arena in the Men's 4×200 metre freestyle relay on July 30, 2024.
