Martin did not play in a game in 2020 due to the cancellation of the minor league season because of the COVID-19 pandemic. [5] He spent 2021 with the High-A Winston-Salem Dash and Double–A Birmingham Barons. In 23 starts, he recorded a cumulative 4.91 ERA with 98 strikeouts in 88.0 innings of work. [6] He opened the 2022 season with Birmingham and was promoted to the Triple–A Charlotte Knights during the season. [7]

On May 17, 2022, the White Sox selected Martin's contract and promoted him to the major leagues for the first time. [8] He made his MLB debut that day as the starting pitcher versus the Kansas City Royals. [9] He pitched five innings in which he gave up one earned run, which was an RBI double in the second inning, while striking out seven, taking the loss as the White Sox fell 2–1. [10] The next day, Martin was sent back to Charlotte. [11] He was recalled and optioned twice in June. [12]

Martin was optioned to Triple-A Charlotte to begin the 2023 season. [13] In 3 starts for the Knights, he posted a strong 2.81 ERA with 20 strikeouts in 16.0 innings pitched. On May 17, 2023, Martin underwent Tommy John surgery, ending his season. [14]
