General Davis Mwamunyange (born 1959) was the Chief of Defence Forces of the Tanzania People's Defence Force. He was appointed by the Tanzanian President Jakaya Kikwete in September 2007. [1] Before his appointment he was the Chief of General Staff. [2]

The 2011 Dar es Salaam explosions were a series of explosions at an ammunition depot in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, that killed 20–32 people. According to officials at the base, the first explosion was at 8:30 pm local time. Being the second explosion in two years of an ammunition depot near a populated area, several groups questioned the locations of these centers and requested they be moved. Reports indicate that 23 military structures, two homes and a school were destroyed.

Venance Salvatory Mabeyo, also known as Vicent Mabeyo, is a retired Tanzanian military officer who served as the eighth Defense Forces Chief to lead the Tanzania People's Defense Force (TPDF). He was appointed by President John Magufuli on 6 February 2017. After Magufuli's death in March 2021, Mabeyo played a major role in ensuring a smooth transition of power to the new President, Samia Suluhu Hassan. He retired from the TPDF in June 2022.
Jacob John Mkunda is a Tanzanian military officer who currently serves as Chief of the Tanzanian People's Defence Force since 30 June 2022.
