History

Aakash Baskaran set up the Chennai-based film production house Dawn Pictures in 2024, before moving on to co-produce the Dhanush-directorial Idly Kadai (2025), along with Wunderbar Films, which also stars Dhanush, alongside Nithya Menen, Shalini Pandey, Arun Vijay and Prakash Raj. [3]

He subsequently went on to work on higher-profile projects, notably beginning with Sudha Kongara's SK25 featuring Sivakarthikeyan, Jayam Ravi, Atharvaa and Sreeleela. [4] [5] Made on a production budget of 150 crore (US$18 million)250 crore (US$30 million), [6] [7] it is the dropped project of Suriya and Sudha known as Suriya 43, which would have marked their reunion after Soorarai Pottru (2020) and featured Dulquer Salmaan, Nazriya Nazim and Vijay Varma alongside Suriya. Soorarai Pottru is a 2020 Indian Tamil-language drama film directed by Sudha Kongara, who wrote the screenplay with Shalini Usha Nair. The film, co-produced by Suriya and Jyothika of 2D Entertainment and Guneet Monga of Sikhya Entertainment, stars Suriya, Aparna Balamurali and Paresh Rawal, while Mohan Babu, Urvashi and Karunas appear in supporting roles. The film was inspired by events from the life of G. R. Gopinath, founder of Indian low-cost airline Simplifly Deccan, as described in his memoir Simply Fly: A Deccan Odyssey.

Prakash Kumar, to the 2020 Indian Tamil-language drama film of the same name, directed by Sudha Kongara, starring Suriya and Paresh Rawal in the lead roles, along with Aparna Balamurali, Urvashi, and Mohan Babu in other prominent roles. The soundtrack album consists of 9 songs all of them were penned by lyricists Snehan, Yugabharathi, Vivek, Arunraja Kamaraj, Ekadesi, Maya Mahalingam and Arivu. The soundtrack album was released digitally on 24 July 2020, through the Sony Music India record label.

"Veyyon Silli" is the 2020 Tamil-language song featured in the soundtrack of the Tamil film Soorarai Pottru. Directed by Sudha Kongara, and produced by Suriya under his 2D Entertainment banner, starring himself in the lead role. The song is composed by G. V. Prakash Kumar, and sung by Harish Sivaramakrishnan and written by Vivek. It is a fusion of melody, folk and progressive rock, and was picturised on Suriya and Aparna Balamurali. The track was launched on 13 February 2020 at a special Boeing 737 aircraft flying on mid-air, the first time in Tamil cinema to do so.

Kanna Ravi is an Indian actor who has appeared in Tamil language films. After making his film debut in the Tamil film Veera (2018), he has been in films including Kaithi (2019) and Rathasaatchi (2022).

<i>Amaran</i> (2024 film) Indian film by Rajkumar Periasamy

Amaran is a 2024 Indian Tamil-language biographical action war film directed by Rajkumar Periasamy and produced by Raaj Kamal Films International, together with Sony Pictures Films India. The film stars Sivakarthikeyan as Major Mukund Varadarajan, alongside Sai Pallavi, Rahul Bose and Bhuvan Arora. It is an adaptation of the book series India's Most Fearless: True Stories of Modern Military Heroes by Shiv Aroor and Rahul Singh, which contains a segment based on Mukund. The film follows Indhu Rebecca Varghese, Mukund's wife, who narrates the life of the Major on her way to New Delhi to receive the Ashoka Chakra, which was awarded posthumously to Mukund.

SK25 is the working title of the upcoming Indian Tamil-language film written and directed by Sudha Kongara. It is jointly produced by Dawn Pictures and Red Giant Movies. The film stars Sivakarthikeyan, alongside Jayam Ravi, Atharvaa and Sreeleela.

<i>Idly Kadai</i> 2025 Indian film

Idly Kadai is an upcoming Indian Tamil-language drama film written, directed and co-produced by Dhanush under Wunderbar Films, together with the newly-created production house Dawn Pictures. The film stars Dhanush, alongside Nithya Menen, Shalini Pandey, Arun Vijay and Prakash Raj.
