Dawson Tayrone Odums is an American football coach. He was most recently the head coach at Norfolk State University, a position he held from 2021 to 2024. Odums served as the interim head football coach at Clark Atlanta University for one season, in 2004, and head football coach at Southern University and A&M College from 2013 to 2020.
Odums agreed to a three-year contract extension as head football coach with Southern University as reported by the Advocate and confirmed by his agent Burton Rocks on January 17, 2014. [1] On January 21, 2015, it was reported in the Advocate that Bethune-Cookman had asked for, and received, permission to speak with Coach Odums regarding their own head coaching vacancy. [2] On April 20, 2021, Odums agreed to a six-year deal with Norfolk State to become the new head coach.

Edward James Orgeron Jr. is a former American football coach. He was most recently the head football coach at Louisiana State University (LSU), a position he held from midway through the 2016 season until the 2021 season. Orgeron previously served as the head football coach at the University of Mississippi from 2005 to 2007 and was the interim head coach at the University of Southern California (USC) in 2013. He led the 2019 LSU Tigers football team to a national championship, beating the defending champions Clemson in the 2020 College Football Playoff National Championship.
Stephen Sarkisian is an American football coach and former player who is the head football coach at the University of Texas at Austin. He previously was the head football coach at the University of Washington from 2009 to 2013 and the University of Southern California (USC) from 2014 to 2015.
Jeffery Wade Ulbrich is an American professional football coach and former linebacker who is the interim head coach for the New York Jets of the National Football League (NFL). Lyvonia Albert "Stump" Mitchell is an American football coach and former player who last served as the running backs coach for the Cleveland Browns of the National Football League (NFL). He served as head football coach at Morgan State University from 1996 to 1998 and Southern University from 2010 to 2012, compiling an overall college football record of 14–42. Mitchell played collegiately at The Citadel and thereafter was drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals. He was a running back and return specialist for the Cardinals from 1981 to 1989.
Bruce Charles Arians is an American football executive and former coach in the National Football League (NFL). Since 2022, he has been a senior football consultant for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Arians was previously the head coach of the Arizona Cardinals from 2013 to 2017 and the Buccaneers from 2019 to 2021. He was also the interim head coach of the Indianapolis Colts during the 2012 season. Arians is known for his slogan "No risk-it, no biscuit," which encourages aggressive playcalling.
George Ragsdale is a former American football coach and former player. He was the interim head football coach at Central State University in Wilberforce, Ohio in 2021. Ragsdale is played college football at North Carolina A&T State University. and professionally with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers of the National Football League (NFL), and played in the United States Football League (USFL). He was used primarily as a kick returner. Ragsdale served as the interim head football coach at North Carolina A&T for the final four games of the 2008 season and at Grambling State University for four games in the middle of the 2013 season.
Kevin Warren Sumlin is an American football coach who is the associate head coach, co-offensive coordinator, and tight ends coach for the University of Maryland. Sumlin served as the head football coach at the University of Houston from 2008 to 2011, Texas A&M University from 2012 to 2017, and at the University of Arizona from 2018 to 2020.
Jerry R. Kill is an American football coach. He was most recently the head coach at New Mexico State University. He played college football at Southwestern College in Winfield, Kansas, from 1979 to 1982. John K. Wright is a former American football coach. He served as the head football coach at Kentucky State University in 1986, Johnson C. Smith University, in 1991, and Elizabeth City State University from 2000 to 2002; he was also the interim head football coach at Albany State University for the final seven games of the 1981 season following the firing of Willie Williamson. Wright graduated from Virginia Union University in 1971. He coached high school football in Orange and Asbury Park, New Jersey before serving as the offensive coordinator at Norfolk State University in 1984 and 1985.
Gary Lee Andersen is an American football coach who was most recently head football coach at Utah State University. Andersen has also been the head football coach of Southern Utah (2003), Wisconsin (2013–2014), and Oregon State (2015–2017). He served three years as the defensive coordinator at Utah, where he coached the 2008 Utes team that went undefeated and beat Alabama in the Sugar Bowl to finish the season ranked second in the nation. He is currently an analyst at BYU.
Thomas Raymond Mason is an American football coach and former player. He served as the interim head football coach at Southern Methodist University (SMU) for the final 10 games of the 2014 season upon the resignation of June Jones, compiling a record of 1–9. Before that, he had been SMU's defensive coordinator since 2008. Mason also served as the interim head football coach at Boise State University for the first ten games of the 1996 season, compiling a record of 1–9.
Jeff Stoutland is an American football coach who is the run game coordinator and offensive line coach for the Philadelphia Eagles of the National Football League (NFL). He served as the interim head football coach for the University of Miami in 2010.
Everett Rowe Withers is an American football coach and former player. He is the interim head coach, defensive coordinator, and outside linebackers coach for the Temple Owls. He was the defensive coordinator at FIU, and was the defensive backs coach for the New York Giants and as the head coach for the Texas State Bobcats. Withers served as head football coach at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill during the 2011 season as well as James Madison University in the 2014 and 2015 seasons.
Jamey Chadwell is an American college football coach and former player. He is the head football coach at Liberty University, a position he has held since the 2023 season. Chadwell served as the head football coach at North Greenville University from 2009 to 2011, Delta State University in 2012, Charleston Southern University from 2013 and 2016, and Coastal Carolina University, first in an interim capacity in 2017 and then on a permanent basis from 2019 to 2022.

The season began on August 30, 2012, and concluded with the 2013 NCAA Division I Football Championship Game on January 5, 2013, at FC Dallas Stadium in Frisco, Texas. North Dakota State beat Sam Houston State for the second year in a row, 39-13, to repeat as champions.
The 2013 Southern Jaguars football team represented Southern University in the 2013 NCAA Division I FCS football season. The Jaguars were led by first year head coach Dawson Odums, who was made the new head coach he served serving as interim head coach for the final nine games of the previous season. The Jaguars played their home games at Ace W. Mumford Stadium and were a member of the West Division of the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC). The Jaguars finished the season with a 9–4 record, as West Division Champions and with a victory over Jackson State in the SWAC Championship Game.
Clay Charles Helton is an American college football coach and former player, who is currently the head coach at Georgia Southern. He was previously the head coach of USC from 2015 to 2021. Helton has also been an assistant coach for Duke, Houston and Memphis. His father, Kim Helton, was a coach in college, the National Football League, and the Canadian Football League; his brother, Tyson, is the head coach at Western Kentucky.
Lance Guidry is an American football coach and former player. He is the defensive coordinator at the University of Miami in Coral Gables, Florida, a position he has held since the 2023 season. Guidry served as the head football coach at McNeese State University from 2016 to 2018. He was also the interim head football coach at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio for one game in 2010 and at Western Kentucky University for one game in 2012. Guidry played college football as a defensive back at McNeese State from 1990 to 1993. He was a four-year starter, a team captain, and a two-time All-Southland Conference selection. Guidry ranks 17th on the McNeese all-time tackle leader board and also 10th in interceptions.
