Fargo is a city in and the county seat of Cass County,North Dakota,United States. According to the 2020 census,its population was 125,990,making it the most populous city in the state and the 216th most populous city in the United States. Fargo,along with its twin city of Moorhead,Minnesota,and the adjacent cities of West Fargo,North Dakota and Dilworth,Minnesota,form the core of the Fargo–Moorhead,ND-MN Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA). The MSA had a population of 248,591 in 2020.

The Nickel Trophy is presented to the winner of the currently annual football game between the rival University of North Dakota (UND) Fighting Hawks and the North Dakota State University (NDSU) Bison. "The Yellow and The Green'" is the Alma Mater of North Dakota State University in Fargo,North Dakota. "The Yellow and The Green" was written by a young North Dakota Agricultural College faculty member,Archibald E. Minard,in 1907. Minard later took the lyrics to Dr. Clarence S. Putnam,a fellow NDAC professor,to develop a musical setting for the lyrics. Minard hoped that the song would become the official song of the state of North Dakota. Instead,that designation went to another song for which Putnam composed the music,the "North Dakota Hymn".
The Spectrum is the student-run newspaper of North Dakota State University in Fargo,North Dakota. The Spectrum has been in publication since 1896. Its oversight committee is the Board of Student Publications (BOSP) made up of a rotating group of four faculty members and five students and receives a portion of the student activity fee as a means to subsidize its production. The Gold Star Marching Band or also known as "The Pride of North Dakota" is the marching band of North Dakota State University. It is a non-auditioned band,open to all majors. With approximately 160 members,the band is one of the largest organizations on campus.

The 2022 North Dakota State Bison softball team was an American college softball team that represented North Dakota State University during the 2022 NCAA Division I softball season. The Bison were led by Darren Mueller in his twenty-first season,and played their home games at Tharaldson Park. They competed in the Summit League.
The Bison finished the season with a 30-23 record,and a 10-8 record in Summit League play. NDSU made it to the Summit League Tournament as the 3 seed. They defeated North Dakota and Omaha,before falling to South Dakota State and Omaha in the elimination game to be eliminated from contention.
