Debapriya Bhattacharya is an economist and public policy analyst from Bangladesh. He was the first executive director of Centre for Policy Dialogue in Dhaka. He also worked as a senior research fellow at Bangladesh Institute of Development Studies (BIDS). [1]

Early life

Bhattacharya's father, Debesh Bhattacharya, was a lawmaker. He served as a Supreme Court jurist. Bhattacharya's mother, Chitra Bhattacharya, was a member of parliament of the Government of Bangladesh during 1996 to 2001. Bhattacharya attended St Gregory's High School and Dhaka College. He earned his MSc and PhD in economics at the Plekhanov Institute of the National Economy, Moscow. [2]

Career

Bhattacharya served as an executive director of the Centre for Policy Dialogue (CPD). [3] In 2007 Bhattacharya was appointed Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Bangladesh to the WTO and UN Office in Geneva. [4] A year later he resigned from the post citing "moral and ethical grounds". [3]

Salimullah Khan Bangldeshi writer

Salimullah Khan is a Bangladeshi writer. Khan explores national and international politics and culture using Marxist and Lacanian theories. Informed and influenced by Ahmed Sofa's thoughts, his exploration of Bangladesh's politics and culture has a significant following among the country's young generation of writers and thinkers. Committee for Development Policy

The Committee for Development Policy is a subsidiary body of the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC). The task of the CDP is to provide independent advice to the Council on development policy issues. The Committee is also responsible for deciding which countries can be considered least developed countries (LDCs).

Swatta is a 2017 Bangladeshi romantic tragedy film. The film directed by Hashibur Reza Kallol and produced by Sohani Hossain under the banner of Taranga Entertainment. It is a story written by Sohani Hossain and a screenplay and dialogue written by Ferdous Hassan. The film features Bangladeshi superstar Shakib Khan and Paoli Dam in the lead roles and Kabila, Nasrin, Rina Khan, Don and many have played supporting roles in the film.

Shamsul Islam Muhammad Nurunnabi Khan was a Bangladeshi freedom fighter and writer. He was awarded Bir Bikrom for his contribution to the Liberation War of Bangladesh.

R. A. Ghani Bangladeshi politician

R. A. Ghani was a Bangladeshi engineer and Bangladesh Nationalist Party politician. He was a member of the Jatiya Sangsad, and served as the state minister of Science and Technology.

Mizanur Rahman Khan was a Bangladeshi journalist. He was born in October 1967 in Nalchiti, Jhalokathi and died of COVID-19-related complications during the COVID-19 pandemic in Bangladesh in Dhaka in January 2021.

Mujib: The Making of a Nation is an upcoming Bangladesh-India co-produced Bengali-language biographical film directed by Shyam Benegal. It stars Arifin Shuvoo as Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the first President of Bangladesh and Father of the Nation popularly known as Bangabandhu, who was assassinated with his family during coup d'état in 1975.

Bangavax Vaccine candidate against COVID-19

Bangavax, also known as Bancovid, is a COVID-19 vaccine candidate developed by a Bangladeshi pharmaceutical company Globe Biotech Limited. The vaccine was initially called Bancovid. On 23 November 2021, Globe Biotech has received ethical authorization from the Bangladesh Medical Research Council to conduct the first human trial.
