Debapriya Bhattacharya is an economist and public policy analyst from Bangladesh. He was the first executive director of Centre for Policy Dialogue in Dhaka. He also worked as a senior research fellow at Bangladesh Institute of Development Studies (BIDS). [1] Head Coach:-Jullian Naglessmann

Early life

Bhattacharya's father, Debesh Bhattacharya, was a lawmaker. He served as a Supreme Court jurist. Bhattacharya's mother, Chitra Bhattacharya, was a member of parliament of the government of Bangladesh during 1996 to 2001. Bhattacharya attended St Gregory's High School and Dhaka College. He earned his MSc and PhD in economics at the Plekhanov Institute of the National Economy, Moscow. [2]

Career

Bhattacharya served as an executive director of the Centre for Policy Dialogue (CPD). [3] In 2007 Bhattacharya was appointed Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Bangladesh to the WTO and UN Office in Geneva. [4] A year later he resigned from the post citing "moral and ethical grounds". [3]

The Centre for Policy Dialogue (CPD), established in 1993 by Rehman Sobhan, its Founder chairman, with support from leading civil society institutions in Bangladesh, is mandated by its Deed of Trust to service the growing demand originating from the emerging civil society of Bangladesh for a more participatory and accountable development process. CPD seeks to address this felt-need from the perspectives of marginalised stakeholders, by way of organising multistakeholder consultations, by conducting research on issues of critical national, regional and global interests, through dissemination of knowledge and information on key developmental issues, and by influencing the concerned policy making processes.

The 'Fazli' mango is a mango cultivar primarily grown in Malda and Murshidabad in West Bengal,India and Rajshahi Division in Bangladesh . It is a late maturing fruit, available after other varieties. Fazlis are commonly used in jams and pickles in the cuisine of the Indian subcontinent. Each mango can be quite large, going up to a kilo. Rajshahi Division in Bangladesh is the major producers of fazli. An important commercial variety, it is increasingly being exported.

Michael Møller is president of the Diplomatic Forum of the Geneva Science and Diplomacy Anticipator Foundation, principal advisor at Macro Advisory Partners and member of the boards of several foundations, including the Kofi Annan Foundation. He is Honorary President of the Association of Former International Civil Sevants for Development (Greycells). He is a Danish former Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations and the 12th director-general of the United Nations Office at Geneva (UNOG). He was also the secretary-general of the Conference on Disarmament and the United Nations Secretary-General's personal representative to the conference. He was appointed to these roles by Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon in November 2013 and was reappointed by Secretary-General António Guterres in February 2017 for another year. He was elected a member of Jatiya Sangsad from the Sylhet-1 constituency at the 2018 general elections. Simeen Mahmud was a demographics researcher and the lead researcher at the BRAC Institute of Governance and Development at BRAC University. She was a director of the Bangladesh Institute of Development Studies. She was the coordinator of the Centre for Gender and Social Transformation of BRAC University. She headed the Gender Studies Cluster at BRAC University.
