Deck Wars is a 2011 Canadian television series, airing on HGTV. It is considered a sister series to Decked Out , and like Decked Out, stars Paul Lafrance and his deck building crew. Unlike its sister series, Deck Wars is a game show that pits two teams of contestants against each other in building a deck in two days with a common theme.

Format

Deck Wars is filmed in an indoor warehouse. In each episode, two teams of two contestants must build a deck fitting a specified theme in two days. Both teams are given the same materials and an identical building facades set of tools, as well as the use of two of Paul's crew members; contestants may also bring in whatever materials that they deem necessary for their deck design. On the second day, two sets of furniture will be provided for decorating each deck; the team finishing first, as determined by Paul, will have their choice of furniture. Both decks will be judged by Paul Lafrance and a rotating panel of two judges; the Decked Out crew members will are also interviewed on the experience working with the contestants. The victorious team receives the Deck Wars trophy, and the defeated team receives participation ribbons as a consolation prize.

Like its sister series, Deck Wars involves comedic banter between the contestants, their helpers, and Paul himself; this often manifests itself in trash-talking, as well as the "moment of suspense" before the winner is announced.

Designer Superstar Challenge also known simply as Superstar Challenge is a show hosted by Karen Bertelsen on HGTV Canada that has had four seasons. Similar to the American series HGTV Design Star, the show features aspiring interior designers competing in a series of challenges, following which one contestant is named the "design superstar" at the end of the competition.

Canada's Worst Handyman is a Canadian television series that aired on Discovery Channel Canada from March 13, 2006 to June 13, 2011. Based on a one-off 2004 episode of Britain's Worst DIYer, the show was produced by Proper Television, whose president, Guy O'Sullivan, was the director of the original Britain's Worst Driver series until its 2003 cancellation and shared its production with Canada's Worst Driver, including executive producer and host Andrew Younghusband. Like sister series Canada's Worst Driver, there have been similar adaptations in other English-speaking countries, in the United States in 2011, with America's 10 Worst DIYers and in Britain with a Britain's Worst 2005 spin-off series, Britain's Worst DIYer. Hosted by Paul Lafrance, a contractor who owns Cutting Edge Construction and Design in Pickering, Ontario, each episode depicts Lafrance and his team designing and building a unique and dramatic deck for a client.

All American Handyman is a HGTV reality competition show between a group of handymen and women. The show is hosted Molly Culver, and judged by Mike Holmes and Scott McGillivray. Home to Win is a Canadian home renovation reality television series, which premiered April 24, 2016 on HGTV Canada. The series features contractors and designers from all of the network's original productions collaborating on the renovation and design of a single "dream house", which will be awarded to a registered viewer at the end of the series. The series is also dubbed into the French language, and aired on the Canadian channel CASA as Maison à Gagner.
