A handyman, also known as a fixer, handyperson or handyworker, maintenance worker, repair worker, or repair technician, is a person who is skilled at a wide range of repairs, typically for keeping buildings, shops or equipment around the home in good condition. These tasks include trade skills, repair work, maintenance work, are both interior and exterior, and are sometimes described as "side work", "odd jobs" or "fix-up tasks". Specifically, these jobs could be light plumbing jobs such as fixing a leaky toilet or light electric jobs such as changing a light fixture or bulb.

Canada's Worst Handyman 1 was the first-ever season of the Canadian reality TV show Canada's Worst Handyman, which aired on the Discovery Channel, based on the UK Channel 4 Television Corporation's Britain's Worst Driver. The show is considered to be a sister show of Canada's Worst Driver, as Canada's Worst Handyman shares much of its production crew with Canada's Worst Driver. As with subsequent years, five people, nominated by their family or friends, enter the Handyman Rehabilitation Centre to improve their handyman skills, in an effort to not be named Canada's Worst Handyman. This year, the Handyman Rehabilitation Centre is located in a public housing complex building in the Regent Park neighborhood of Toronto that has since been demolished to make way for a FreshCo supermarket and new apartments.
Canada's Worst Handyman 2 was the second season of the Canadian reality TV show Canada's Worst Handyman, which aired on the Discovery Channel. As with the past season, five contestants and their nominators enter the "Handyman Rehabilitation Centre," where a series of challenges await them. This year, the Handyman Rehabilitation Centre is once again located in Toronto, this time at The Foundry, a warehouse in the Corktown neighborhood. Unlike the previous season, when the focus was on home renovation, the focus of this season was on the increasing trend in garage and shed renovation. In each episode, contestants partake in a series of challenges, with one contestant being named the most improved handyman and another being named the worst. At the end of the series, the contestant with the worst shed overall is given the title of Canada's Worst Handyman. The five sheds, as well as one built by the experts, have been sold to the one unlucky and five lucky bidders on eBay, sight unseen. The winning bidders will also appear on the final episode of the series as the shed is being delivered to them. The proceeds of the eco-shed sale goes to Habitat for Humanity Canada.
Designer Superstar Challenge also known simply as Superstar Challenge is a show hosted by Karen Bertelsen on HGTV Canada that has had four seasons. Similar to the American series HGTV Design Star, the show features aspiring interior designers competing in a series of challenges, following which one contestant is named the "design superstar" at the end of the competition.
Canada's Worst Handyman 3 was the third season of the Canadian reality TV show Canada's Worst Handyman, which aired on the Discovery Channel. As with previous years, five people, nominated by their family or friends, enter the Handyman Rehabilitation Centre to improve their handyman skills. This year, the Handyman Rehabilitation Centre is located at a 100-year-old mansion located on Bay Street South in Hamilton, Ontario, where the contestants will take charge of renovating one room, as well as a common kitchen and turn the Handyman Rehabilitation Centre into a functional bed and breakfast. Unlike the two previous seasons, however, when the focus was on apartment renovation and shed building, respectively, the focus of this season was on both design and commercial renovation. The filming site was purchased by the production company and sold at the conclusion of the series. As sheds are absent entirely, the entire opening sequence is permanently redone. Producers from the series have claimed that a record 300 applications were received for this season.
Canada's Worst Handyman 4 was the fourth season of the Canadian reality TV show Canada's Worst Handyman, which aired on the Discovery Channel. As with previous years, five people, nominated by their family or friends, enter the Handyman Rehabilitation Centre to improve their handyman skills. This year, the Handyman Rehabilitation Centre is located at the Pow Wow Point Lodge, a 100-year-old country retreat near Huntsville, Ontario, where each contestant competes in challenges meant to improve their do-it-yourself skills, including one where all the contestants must work together as a group. At the end of each episode, host Andrew Younghusband and two judges determine the most improved and the worst contestant in each episode: the most improved being rewarded with the responsibility in leading the next episode's group challenges, while the worst being punished with a further one-on-one tutorial with Andrew. At the end of the last episode, the worst of the five contestants is named Canada's Worst Handyman. This is the first season in which Canadian Tire is the primary sponsor. Furthermore, unlike previous seasons, contestants will not be given the materials or tools that they need: instead, they must purchase them from a Canadian Tire store near the rehab centre while keeping under budget. The overall theme to this season is the question of what is considered "good enough," in addition to working outdoors in the cold winter.

Canada's Worst Handyman is a Canadian television series that aired on Discovery Channel Canada from March 13, 2006 to June 13, 2011. Based on a one-off 2004 episode of Britain's Worst DIYer, the show was produced by Proper Television, whose president, Guy O'Sullivan, was the director of the original Britain's Worst Driver series until its 2003 cancellation and shared its production with Canada's Worst Driver, including executive producer and host Andrew Younghusband. Like sister series Canada's Worst Driver, there have been similar adaptations in other English-speaking countries, in the United States in 2011, with America's 10 Worst DIYers and in Britain with a Britain's Worst 2005 spin-off series, Britain's Worst DIYer. Six seasons of the show have been completed. Throughout the show's five years on air, Younghusband remained in his role of being the only host of Canada's Worst Handyman and, like with Canada's Worst Driver, has appeared in every season. On January 10, 2013, the series' Facebook page posted a statement that the show is "on hiatus with an unknown date for relaunch." In June 2014, Discovery Channel Canada started canvassing for couples at www.badhandyman.ca. The new version of the show aired in 2015 under the title Blood, Sweat & Tools, featuring couples instead of individual handymen.
Canada's Worst Handyman 5 was the fifth season of the Canadian reality TV show Canada's Worst Handyman, which aired on the Discovery Channel. As with previous years, five people, nominated by their family or friends, enter the Handyman Rehabilitation Centre to improve their handyman skills. This year, the Handyman Rehabilitation Centre is located at the Delta Upsilon fraternity house located on Central Avenue in London, Ontario. As with the previous season, contestants must purchase the 245 supplies they need, this time to renovate individual rooms in the frat house. Group challenges this season center on the renovation of a central kitchen. There are several changes that were made for this season: contestants were allowed full access to a computer during challenges for informational purposes and nominators were not permitted to make suggestions to their nominees. It is also the first time since the first season that the nominators are not present at the end of the episode when the most improved and the worst are named.
Canada's Worst Handyman 6 was the sixth and final season of Canada's Worst Handyman, a Canadian reality television series on Discovery Channel which seeks to improve the do-it-yourselfer skills of five contestants. In this season, the contestants must transform several rooms in the Niagara Falls Carriage House on Lundy's Lane in Niagara Falls, Ontario and transform the space into a retreat for newlyweds. Group challenges this year will be focused on transforming a common area into a spa. As with its sister season Canada's Worst Driver 6, a new series logo was commissioned for this season, dubbed "the honeymoon suite season" for all but the first episode.

The season was hosted by Clive Pearse and the judges were designers Vern Yip and Cynthia Rowley. The final challenge involved renovating houses damaged during Hurricane Katrina and the winner was chosen in a vote open to viewers. The winner was Jennifer Bertrand, who won her own TV show on HGTV called Paint-Over! with Jennifer Bertrand.

The six-episode first season was announced in April 2014, as the first cable television series executive produced by talk show host Ellen DeGeneres. In June 2015, HGTV renewed the series for a second season, that premiered on January 18, 2016.
