The Life of Oharu is a 1952 Japanese historical fiction film directed by Kenji Mizoguchi from a screenplay by Yoshikata Yoda. It stars Kinuyo Tanaka as Oharu,a one-time concubine of a daimyō who struggles to escape the stigma of having been forced into prostitution by her father.
Neighborhood Story is a manga by Ai Yazawa. It was published by Shueisha from 1995 to 1998 in the magazine Ribon. It was adapted by Toei Animation as a 50-episode anime series which aired on TV Asahi from September 10,1995,to September 1,1996,with merchandise created by Bandai. There was a movie made in 1996,and a drama CD and soundtrack were also produced. Starting on September 19,2005,Gokinjo Monogatari began being republished in a deluxe edition.
Kenji Mizoguchi was a Japanese film director and screenwriter,who directed about one hundred films during his career between 1923 and 1956. His most acclaimed works include The Story of the Last Chrysanthemums (1939),The Life of Oharu (1952),Ugetsu (1953),and Sansho the Bailiff (1954),with the latter three all being awarded at the Venice International Film Festival. A recurring theme of his films was the oppression of women in historical and contemporary Japan. Together with Akira Kurosawa and YasujirōOzu,Mizoguchi is seen as a representative of the "golden age" of Japanese cinema.

Ultra Maniac is a manga series written by Wataru Yoshizumi. The romantic comedy series features 8th grader Ayu Tateishi,a tennis club member,and her transfer student friend,Nina Sakura,who is actually a trainee witch from the magical kingdom.
