Deepak Kingrani

Deepak Kingrani (born 7 November 1982) is an Indian screenwriter from Bhatapara, Chhattisgarh. [1] He is best known for writing the Hotstar Specials espionage thriller series, Special OPS, and writing the courtroom drama, Sirf Ek Bandaa Kafi Hai. [2] [3]

Early life

Deepak Kingrani spent his school years in Bhatapara and Raipur and studied engineering from MITS Gwalior. [1] He worked abroad in the IT sector for 6 years before losing interest in his work. Kingrani left his job in 2010 and started to pursue writing. [4] [1] He did not go to a film school but learned scriptwriting by watching movies and going through their scripts. He used to watch a movie and then re-watch it with its script open on his laptop. [1]

Career

After leaving his job in IT sector, he moved to Mumbai to become a writer. [5] The first film where he worked as a dialogue writer was War Chhod Na Yaar (2013), an anti-war comedy film. [1] [2] The second film for which he wrote the dialogue was an action comedy film, Pagalpanti (2019). [6] The breakthrough in his career came when he started writing Special Ops (2020) along with Neeraj Pandey. It is an action espionage thriller web series for Hotstar Specials. He is also the writer of Sirf Ek Bandaa Kaafi Hai (2023), a legal drama. [3] The same year, another film that he wrote, Mission Raniganj, was released. This was a disaster thriller film. [2]
