Defspiral (stylized as defspiral, and briefly existing under the name Wilma-Sidr) is a Japanese visual kei [1] rock band composed of most of the former members of the Underneath. When the Underneath disbanded in 2010, [2] most of the group was signed to Avex Mode to perform songs for the Kamen Rider Series. This occurred with a change to their style to a smoother, slicker and more seductive style than their previous incarnations.

History

Before entirely disbanding, the Underneath, sans Tal, reunited under the name Wilma-Sidr to perform "Leave all Behind", the theme song for Kamen Rider Accel for the Kamen Rider W soundtrack. "Leave all Behind" was released as a single on April 28, 2010.

The Wilma-Sidr line-up then reunited under the name Defspiral on Avex Group's Avex Mode label and released the single "Dive into the Mirror", the opening theme song for TV Asahi broadcasts of Kamen Rider: Dragon Knight . [3] Prior to the switch, Ryo had been serving as an arranger for songs on the Kamen Rider Kiva and Kamen Rider Decade soundtracks.

After the contract with Avex ended, Defspiral signed onto Pony Canyon's Knowledge Alliance/PCI Music imprint, releasing singles "Twilight" and "Revolver" in 2010, and released "Melody/Story" independently and via Sonic Scope Records in 2011. The Defspiral members also worked on the musical Pink Spider inspired by the music of deceased X Japan guitarist hide in 2011. [4] The group's debut album Progress was released in late October 2011, showing a stronger musical style with only the solo guitarist. [5] On December 7, Defspiral released a 4-track maxi single titled "Reply -Tribute to hide-" as a tribute to the late hide, who signed the members' previous band Transtic Nerve to his label. It is composed of covers of his songs "Pink Spider", "Doubt", "Rocket Dive" and "Flame". [6]

They covered Luna Sea's "Rosier" for Crush! 3 – 90's V-Rock Best Hit Cover Love Songs-, which was released on June 27, 2012 and features current visual kei bands covering love songs by visual kei bands of the 90s. [7]

On May 26, 2021, founding member and drummer Masaki left the band after their 10th anniversary tour final "DEAREST FREAKS" at TSUTAYA O-WEST and after being with Transtic Nerve, the Underneath and defspiral since 1995. The concert was supposed to be held one year earlier already, but was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

After they disbanded in 2000 he focused on his solo career, for which he performs lead vocals and bass. He rejoined Luna Sea when they reunited in August 2010.

Pink Spider 1998 single by hide with Spread Beaver

"Pink Spider" is the ninth single by Japanese musician hide, the second to bear the hide with Spread Beaver name, released on May 13, 1998, eleven days after his death. It debuted at number 1 on the Oricon Singles Chart and was the 11th best-selling single of the year, being certified Million by the RIAJ. It was also named "Song of the Year" at the 13th Japan Gold Disc Awards.

Kamen Rider: Dragon Knight is an American science fiction superhero television series that originally aired on The CW, as part of the CW4Kids programming block, from December 13, 2008 to December 26, 2009. It is an adaptation of the Japanese tokusatsu show Kamen Rider Ryuki and is the second installment in the Kamen Rider franchise to be adapted for American audiences after Saban's Masked Rider in 1995. Climax Jump 2007 single by AAA DEN-O Form

"Climax Jump" is the 13th single by the Japanese group AAA, released by Avex Mode on March 21, 2007. The song was composed by Shuhei Naruse with the lyrics by Shoko Fujibayashi. The song is the first opening theme for the 2007 tokusatsu series Kamen Rider Den-O. For the release of the single, the band temporarily changed their name to AAA DEN-O Form for Den-O.

The Underneath, formerly known as Transtic Nerve, was a Japanese visual kei rock band formed in 1995. The band released four full-length records as Transtic Nerve and two full-length records as The Underneath. As Transtic Nerve, the band played more straightforward rock styled music, but in 2007 shifted to a heavier and darker style upon transforming to The Underneath. In 2010, the group disbanded and reformed under the name Defspiral.

<i>Kamen Rider Decade</i>

Kamen Rider Decade is the title of the first installment of the 2009 editions of the long-running Kamen Rider Series of tokusatsu dramas. Decade, as its title suggests, is the tenth of the Heisei Rider special anniversary Series, having begun with Kamen Rider Kuuga in 2000. Its protagonists are able to transform into not only their own unique, but also all of the previous 9 Heisei Kamen Rider phase 1 "Kamen Rider Kuuga - Kamen Rider Kiva" and All Showa Kamen Rider, each of which have their own unique power that the Decade can access. It began broadcasting the week following the finale of Kamen Rider Kiva and was featured in Super Hero Time alongside the 2009 edition of the Super Sentai Series, Samurai Sentai Shinkenger. The series ties in with the arcade game Kamen Rider Battle: Ganbaride, with Kamen Riders Decade and Diend using cards resembling those used in the game to transform and access various weapons. Inspiration for this series was very likely to have been the fact that Toei had successfully ensured that the Kamen Rider series lasted a whole decade (2000-2009) without the show going into a period of hiatus which had always occurred since the franchise began in the 1970s. The series' English dub aired on October 20, 2012, 5:30 p.m. at Singapore's Okto Channel, Mediacorp. Kamen Rider Zi-O, the last Heisei era series of 2018-2019, acts as a spiritual sequel, where both Decade and Diend play prominent roles as re-occurring side characters who are directly involved in that series plotline.

<i>Kamen Rider W</i> Japanese drama

Kamen Rider W, is a 2009-2010 Japanese tokusatsu drama, the eleventh series in the Heisei period run of the Kamen Rider Series. It premiered following the finale of Kamen Rider Decade on September 6, 2009, and aired alongside Samurai Sentai Shinkenger in TV Asahi's Super Hero Time programming block. Following Shinkenger's finale, it aired alongside Tensou Sentai Goseiger, until W concluded on August 29, 2010. The series is described as the "Heisei Kamen Rider 10th Anniversary Project: Fall Campaign". In the first episode of Kamen Rider Fourze, W is revealed to be in the same continuity as the original Showa timeline, making it the first series to do so since Kamen Rider Agito. The series is notable for being the first installment in what's popularly viewed as Heisei era Kamen Rider's second phase by fans. A sequel manga series, Fuuto PI, began serialization in August 2017 and an anime adaptation is scheduled for Q3 2022.

Dive into the Mirror 2010 single by Defspiral

"Dive into the Mirror" is the first single by Japanese rock group Defspiral after Wilma-Sidr line-up reunited under their new name. The song is the group's second release under Avex Group's Avex Mode label and it was used as the opening song of the Japanese dub of Kamen Rider: Dragon Knight. The single charted at number 77 on the Oricon Weekly Charts, remaining on the charts for two weeks, and debuted at number 89 on the Billboard Japan Hot Single Sales charts for the week of June 7, 2010.

50% & 50% 1993 single by hide

"50% & 50%" is the second single by Japanese musician hide, released on August 5, 1993. It reached number 6 on the Oricon chart. His first single "Eyes Love You" was released on the same day. Both singles' covers are identical except; "50% & 50%" is red, whereas "Eyes Love You" is green. They form a 3D picture when they are placed side by side. It was certified gold upon release by RIAJ.

Kamen Rider W Returns is a set of two V-Cinema (direct-to-video) releases that serve as spin-offs for characters from the Kamen Rider W television series and films. These films focus on the characters of Ryu Terui / Kamen Rider Accel and Katsumi Daido / Kamen Rider Eternal, though the series' main characters Shotaro Hidari, Philip, and Akiko Narumi also make appearances. Heidi. is a Japanese visual kei rock band formed in Tokyo in February 2006. They gained popularity after performing at the memorial concert on the 10th anniversary of the death of the musician hide on May 4, 2008 to tens of thousands of people. Their third album was released in Europe by Gan-Shin records in 2009 and the following year Heidi. signed to major label Geneon Universal Entertainment.

Lycaon was a Japanese visual kei rock band formed in late 2007. Guitarist Rito (リト) changed his name to Zero (零) in 2013. Eve is always credited as Schlagzeug which means drums in German. The band has announced that they would be disbanding in November 2015.
