Dejene Yirdaw (born 21 August 1978 in Tulu Bolo) is an Ethiopian long-distance runner who specialises in the marathon. He represented Ethiopia at the 2009 World Championships in Athletics and has won the Gyeongju International Marathon and the Kosice Peace Marathon. He personal best for the distance is 2 hours and 8:30 minutes.
His first top level appearances came in 2007: he ran at the Nedbank half marathon in Bloemfontein in April, coming seventh with a time of 1:03:51, [1] and then in October he entered into his first marathon race, the Dublin Marathon, and managed to finish in third place with a time of 2:11:08. [2] He competed in the United States for the first time the following year and his run of 2:14:20 was enough for second place behind Michael Aish at the Rock 'n' Roll Arizona Marathon. [3] The Kosice Peace Marathon was the venue for his third outing over the distance that October, and he seized control of the race, outrunning even the official pacemaker (David Makori). He completed his first win over the distance in a personal best time of 2:10:51 and became only the third Ethiopian to win the men's race, breaking an almost forty-year dry spell since Abebe Bikila and Demissie Wolde's wins in the 1960s. His performance at the Seoul International Marathon in 2009 gave Dejene a number of scalps over quicker, more established runners. Knocking almost two and a half minutes of his personal best, Dejene was the only athlete to pursue the eventual winner Moses Arusei. Finishing as the runner-up with a time of 2:08:30, he had beaten pre-race favourites Jason Mbote and Paul Biwott by a margin of two minutes. [5] He was selected for the Ethiopian men's marathon team at the 2009 World Championships in Athletics, earning his first major national selection at the age of 30. He finished in 15th place as the third fastest Ethiopian in 2:15:09, a time which (alongside Tsegay Kebede and Yemane Tsegay) helped Ethiopia to the team silver medal as part of the Marathon World Cup section of the race. He began his 2010 season at the Dubai Marathon in January and finished in seventh place. [7] He ran over 20 km at the 20 van Alphen race in the Netherlands and managed second place behind Bernard Chepkok with a best of 58:22 for the distance. [8] At the Gyeongju International Marathon he completed his second sub-2:10 clocking to win the race in 2:09:13, holding off a challenge from Moroccan runner Abdellah Falil. [9]
Tariku Bekele Beyecha is an Ethiopian professional long-distance runner, who specializes in the 5,000 metres and has moved up to 10.000 metres as well. He is the younger brother of Kenenisa Bekele, who is also an accomplished long-distance runner and a former world record holder in both the 5,000 metres and 10,000 metres. Tariku is the fourth fastest Ethiopian ever over 5,000 m and 3,000 metres. His indoor 3,000 m best of 7:31.09 ranks him as the ninth fastest of all-time in the event. He was the 10,000 m bronze medallist at the 2012 Summer Olympics.
Eyerusalem Kuma is an Ethiopian long-distance runner, who competes in marathons. She has a personal best of 2:24:55 hours for the distance and was the 2009 winner of the Amsterdam Marathon.
Deriba Merga Ejigu is an Ethiopian professional long-distance runner. He mainly competes in the marathon. He finished fourth in that event at the 2008 Beijing Olympics and went on to win the Boston Marathon the following year. His personal best for the distance is 2:06:38 hours.
Philes Moora Ongori is a Kenyan long-distance runner who competes in half marathon and marathon events.

The 2010 IAAF World Half Marathon Championships was held in Nanning, China on 16 October 2010. The competition took place on the city streets, beginning and ending at Wuxiang Square, with a total prize purse of US$245,000 at stake.
Yemane Adhane Tsegay is an Ethiopian long distance runner who specialises in the marathon. He won the 2012 Rotterdam Marathon with a personal best time of 2:04:48 hours. He has also won marathons in Eindhoven, Gyeongju, Macau and Taipei.

The Gyeongju International Marathon is an annual road running event over the marathon distance (42.195 km) which takes place in mid-October in Gyeongju, South Korea. It gained IAAF Silver Label Road Race status in 2010.
Abdellah Falil is a Moroccan professional long-distance runner. He was selected for the national Olympic squad for the 2008 Beijing Olympics and finished 16th in the 10,000 metres final.

Moses Kimeli Arusei(born 1983) is a Kenyan long-distance runner who competes in marathon races. He has won competitions in Madrid, Seoul, and Thessaloniki. His personal best time of 2:06:50 hours was set at the 2008 Paris Marathon, where he came second.
Benson Kipchumba Barus is a Kenyan long-distance runner who competes in marathon and half marathon competitions. He has a personal best of 2:07:07 hours for the distance, set at the 2011 Prague Marathon, which he won. He also won the 2009 Turin Marathon and has placed top three in Rome, Beijing and Chuncheon.
Wilson Loyanae Erupe, also known as Wilson Loyanai Ekupe, is a Kenyan born Korean long-distance runner who competes in marathons. He has a personal best of 2:05:13 hours for the event and has won races in Mombasa, Gyeongju and Seoul. He has represented South Korea under the name Oh Joo-han, since 2018.
Lee Myong-Seung is a South Korean marathon runner. He set a personal best time of 2:13:25, by finishing ninth at the 2010 Seoul International Marathon. In the same year, he achieved his best career result with a fourth-place finish at the Gyeongju International Marathon, clocking at 2:16:19.
Dickson Kiptolo Chumba is a Kenyan long-distance runner who competes in marathon races. He has won the Rome, Eindhoven, Tokyo, and Chicago marathons and has a personal best of 2:04:32 for the distance.
Yeshi Esayias Tessema is an Ethiopian long-distance runner who competes in marathon races. Her personal best for the distance is 2:24:06 hours. She has won races in Ottawa and Montreal and is a two-time winner of the Taipei International Marathon and Daegu Marathon.
