Dele Gboluga Ikengboju (born 23 June 1967) is a pharmacist and politician [1] who served as a member of the Nigeria Federal House of Representatives, representing Okitipupa/Irele Constituency from 2019 to 2023. [2] [3]
Ikengboju spent his early life in Ilutitun, his hometown Okitipupa, Ondo State. He completed his primary education at LA Primary School Ilutitun, Ondo State in 1977 and his secondary education at Comprehensive High School Ilutitun in 1983. [1] [4]
In 1995, he graduated from the University of Benin with a Bachelor of Pharmacy. In order to become a member of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society, he took the Overseas Conversion Examination in 2000 at the University of Sunderland in the United Kingdom. In addition, he earned a Certificate in Medicine Use Review from Kent/Medway University in 2005 and a Master's degree in Managing Contemporary Global Issues from the University of Winchester, UK in 2010. Ikengboju career spans roles in Pfizer Products PLC (1995-1996), Taraba State Health Services Management Board (1996-1998), Lloyds Pharmacy Ltd (2002-2006), Hampshire Primary Health Care Trust (2006-2007). He has been with Mastamed International Limited, West Africa since 2010. [1] [4]
Ikengboju contested and won the Okitipupa/Irele federal constituency seat in 2019, [2] [3] following a controversial substitution in the 2014 primary elections. [5] He was however defeated by Okunjimi Odimayo in 2023. [6] [7]
In 2020, he was selected as a running mate for the 2020 Ondo State governorship election by Eyitayo Jegede, the People Democratic Party's nominee. [8]
Ondo State is a state in southwestern Nigeria. It was created on 3 February 1976 from the former Western State. General elections were held in Nigeria on 23 February 2019 to elect the President, Vice President, House of Representatives and the Senate. The elections had initially been scheduled for 16 February, but the Electoral Commission postponed the vote by a week at 03:00 on the original polling day, citing logistical challenges in getting electoral materials to polling stations on time. In some places, the vote was delayed until 24 February due to electoral violence. Polling in some areas was subsequently delayed until 9 March, when voting was carried out alongside gubernatorial and state assembly elections.

The 2012 Ondo State gubernatorial election occurred on October 20, 2012. Incumbent governor, LP's Olusegun Mimiko won election for a second term, defeating other party candidates. Mimiko received 43.79% of the total vote and won in 13 of the state's 18 LGAs, closely followed by PDP's Olusola Oke who won in two LGAs with 26.25% of total votes, while the ACN candidate, Rotimi Akeredolu, who won in three LGAs came third with 24.15% of the votes. Mimiko becomes the first Incumbent governor of Ondo State to be re-elected.
