Deming Chen, also widely known as M I N G (born November 18, 1970) is an American businesswoman, creative executive, author, long distance runner [4] and former television host. She is Executive Vice President and Chief Culture Officer of EF Education First. [5] [6] [7] [8] She is also a Board Member of Keswick Foundation, a Hong Kong-based philanthropic organization [9] and a brand ambassador of a London-based athletic wear company, Sweaty Betty. [10]
Chen was born in New York City. She grew up in Millburn, New Jersey and attended Millburn Senior High School. In 1988, she went to Harvard College and was nominated Harvard Class Marshal of Eliot House. [11] She earned her Bachelor of Arts in East Asian studies in 1992. [12] She then began her career at an entertainment company, Media Assets, in Hong Kong. Later she attended Harvard Business School and received her Master of Business Administration (MBA) in 1998.
After graduating from Harvard College, Chen started her career in Hong Kong as a television host of News Corporation’s Star TV. [12] She also worked in television as the co-host of the Children’s Channel and then worked at Turner Broadcasting. Chen received her MBA from Harvard Business School upon which she joined EF Education First. [13] She serves as EF’s Chief Culture Officer and Executive Vice President. [14] [15] She has helped to launch the EF’s English Proficiency Index and has worked with EF affiliate, Hult International Business School.
"Sassparilla's New Shoes" is her first published children's book co-authored with her identical twin sister Dehua Chen. [12] In 1999, the book was published by E.M. Press. [16] [17] The twin sisters co-authored another children's book named "Ling Ling Looked in the Mirror" illustrated by Mariko Jesse and published by Chameleon Press in 2001. [18] [19] Chen and her twin sister appeared as vampiric characters in Melissa de la Cruz’s Blue Bloods series as Deming Chen, Angel of Mercy, and Dehua Chen, Angel of Immortality. UK publisher Lantana Publishing has slated their third book, Escape: One Day We Had to Run for May 2021. Established in 2014, the Women of Hope (WOH) awards was established to recognize the influential women of Hong Kong who campaign and champion the calls for social justice that benefit women, children and the community at large. In 2016, the WOH honoured 8 women from different industries and Ming Chen has been honoured with an Award under Children's Advocate category. [23] [24]

The Hong Kong Performing Artistes Guild or HKPAG is a non-profit labour association that represents Hong Kong artistes, canto-pop singers and stage performers. Huang Yu-chun, known by her final stage name Ivy Ling Po, is a retired Hong Kong actress and Chinese opera singer. She is best known for a number of mega-hit Huangmei opera films in the 1960s, especially The Love Eterne (1963) which made her an Asian superstar overnight. She played an important role in the entertainment industry for preserving the Huangmei opera art form.

Temptation of a Monk is a 1993 Hong Kong period drama film directed by Clara Law based on Pik Wah Lee's novel of the same name. The film had Joan Chen and Hsing-Kuo Wu in the lead roles. The film is about a monk named Jing-yi and his haunting past, and a lady assassin who was sent to kill him. The film was banned in China.

He Xiangning was a Chinese revolutionary, feminist, politician, painter, and poet. Together with her husband Liao Zhongkai, she was one of the earliest members of Sun Yat-sen's revolutionary movement Tongmenghui. As Minister for Women's Affairs in Sun's Nationalist government in Guangzhou (Canton), she advocated equal rights for women and organized China's first rally for International Women's Day in 1924. After her husband's assassination in 1925 and Chiang Kai-shek's persecution of the Communists in 1927, she stayed away from party politics for two decades, but actively worked to organize resistance against the Japanese invasion of China.
