The Democratic National Platform 2000 (Dutch : Democratisch Nationaal Platform 2000) was a political party in Suriname, that was founded and led by Jules Wijdenbosch. [1] At the legislative elections (25 May 2005), the DNP 2000 was part of the People's Alliance for Progress that won over 14.5% of the popular vote and five out of 51 seats in the National Assembly.

The Principality of Sealand is a micronation on HM Fort Roughs, an offshore platform in the North Sea. It is situated on Rough Sands, a sandbar located approximately 11 kilometres (6 nmi) from the coast of Suffolk and 13 kilometres (7 nmi) from the coast of Essex. Roughs Tower is a Maunsell Sea Fort that was built by the British in international waters during World War II. Since 1967, the decommissioned Roughs Tower has been occupied and claimed as a sovereign state by the family and associates of Paddy Roy Bates. Bates seized Roughs Tower from a group of pirate radio broadcasters in 1967 with the intention of setting up his own station there. Bates and his associates have repelled incursions from vessels from rival pirate radio stations and the UK's Royal Navy using firearms and petrol bombs. In 1987, the United Kingdom extended its territorial waters to 12 nautical miles, which places the platform in British territory. As of August 2024, Sealand has only one permanent resident.

Jules Albert Wijdenbosch is a Surinamese politician who was President of Suriname from 1996 to 2000. He was a member of the National Democratic Party, which held absolute power in Suriname during the 1980s. He was Prime Minister from April 1987 until January 1988, Vice President from January 1991 until September 1991, and President from September 1996 until August 2000. He is now the leader of Democratic National Platform 2000. The Jules Wijdenbosch Bridge, which connects the East of the country with Paramaribo, has been named after Wijdenbosch.
The Philips Stadion is a football stadium in Eindhoven, Netherlands. As the home of PSV Eindhoven, it is therefore also known as PSV Stadion. The Vincent Award was a Dutch prize awarded to a European artist whose works were deemed highly relevant in contemporary art. The winner received €50,000. The Vincent award, named for Dutch artist Vincent van Gogh, was aimed at stimulating European artists and building a discussion platform within Europe.
