Dennis Edozie GCON (10 November 1935 - 18 August 2018) was a Nigerian jurist who was Judge of the Supreme Court of Nigeria from 2003 until his retirement in 2005. [1] [2] [3] [4]
Edozie was a teacher of Latin and mathematics from 1956 to 1958,before entering the government of Eastern Nigeria as an administrative officer from 1962 to 1965. He served as a judge of the High Court of Anambra State from 1982 to 1990,and then proceeded to the Court of Appeal,where he was a judge for twelve years from 1990 until his appointment to the Supreme Court in 2003. David Hackett Souter is a retired associate justice of the Supreme Court of the United States. He served from October 1990 to his retirement in June 2009. Appointed by US President George H. W. Virginia (1996),Olmstead v. L.C. (1999),Friends of the Earth,Inc. v. Laidlaw Environmental Services,Inc. (2000),and City of Sherrill v. Oneida Indian Nation of New York (2005).
John Paul Stevens was an associate justice of the United States Supreme Court,serving from 1975 to 2010. At the time of his retirement,he was the second-oldest justice in the history of the Court and the third-longest-serving justice. At the time of his death,he was the longest lived Supreme Court justice ever. His long tenure saw him write for the Court on most issues of American law,including civil liberties,the death penalty,government action and intellectual property. In cases involving presidents of the United States,he wrote for the court that they were to be held accountable under American law. A registered Republican when appointed who throughout his life identified as a conservative,Stevens was considered to have been on the liberal side of the Court at the time of his retirement.

Jonathan Philip Chadwick Sumption,Lord Sumption,,is a British author,medieval historian and former senior judge who sat on the Supreme Court of the United Kingdom between 2012 and 2018. Sumption was sworn in as a Justice of the Supreme Court on 11 January 2012,succeeding Lawrence Collins,Baron Collins of Mapesbury. Exceptionally,he was appointed to the Supreme Court directly from the practising Bar,without having been a full-time judge. He retired from the Supreme Court on 9 December 2018 upon reaching the mandatory retirement age of 70.
Joshua Chibi Dariye assumed office as the Governor of Plateau State,Nigeria on May 29,1999 during the 1999 Plateau State gubernatorial election on the platform of the People's Democratic Party (PDP). He was re-elected for another four-year term starting in May 2003,and was impeached in November 2006 though the impeachment was nullified by the Nigerian appeal court in March 27,2007,a decision upheld by the Supreme Court the following month effectively returning Dariye to office for the remainder of his tenure.

Idris Legbo Kutigi OFR,GCON was a Nigerian lawyer and judge. He was Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice in Niger State before becoming a high court judge. Kutigi joined the Supreme Court of Nigeria in 1992 and served as Chief Justice from 30 January 2007 until 30 December 2009.
Aloysius Iyorgyer Katsina-Alu was a Nigerian lawyer who served as Chief Justice of Nigeria. Katsina-Alu was born on August 28,1941 in Benue State and he started his early education at St Anne’s Primary School Tarungwa and St. Patricks Primary School Taraku,before he went to Mount St. Michaels Secondary School Aliede,in Benue State. He later enrolled at the Nigerian Military Training College,Kaduna,in 1962,from where he moved over to Mons Military Training College,Aldershot,England. His interest in a military career was short-lived as he returned to the country to pursue a degree in law at the Ahmadu Bello University,Zaria.
