Denise Catherine Nolan (born 6 April 1952) is an Irish singer, songwriter and actress. She was a member of The Nolans. [1]

Biography

Early life

Nolan was born in Dublin, Ireland, on 6 April 1952, the third of eight children born to Tommy and Maureen Nolan (15 December 1926 – 30 December 2007), with sisters Anne, Maureen, Linda, Bernie, and Coleen and brothers Tommy and Brian. [1] The family lived in Raheny, a suburb of Dublin, before moving to Blackpool, England in 1962. [1]

The Nolans

Denise, along with her sisters, were a part of the singing group The Nolan Sisters. With them she achieved fame throughout the 1970s, including a top three album. In 1978 she left the group to start a solo career. She is the only one of the sisters never to have rejoined.

Denise Nolan previously starred in London's musical Blood Brothers as Mrs Johnson. [2]

Later works

In February 2020, it was announced that Nolan and her sisters would appear in a new TV series for Quest Red, The Nolans Go Cruising, [3] a rival show to Channel 5's award-winning Cruising with Jane McDonald . Denise appeared in the second series, in which she performed both solo and as part of the group. [4]

In 2022, Denise Nolan released her debut album For You, My Love, singing songs from “The Great American Songbook” and Frank Sinatra. [5]

Personal life

Nolan has been in a relationship with musician Tom Anderson since 1977. The couple live between Blackpool and Los Angeles and got married in June 2024. [6] [7]

I'm in the Mood Again is the fifteenth and final studio album by the Irish all-girl pop band The Nolans. Although eight people have been involved in the line up of the band, only four - Coleen, Linda, Maureen and Bernie - returned for this recording. The album consists of many "diva anthems" and also some of The Nolans' greatest hits. It was Bernie's final recording before her death in 2013.

The Rookie is an American drama series created by Alexi Hawley for ABC. The series stars Nathan Fillion, Alyssa Diaz, Richard T. Jones, Melissa O'Neil, Mekia Cox, Lisseth Chavez, Shawn Ashmore, Jenna Dewan, and Eric Winter. It follows John Nolan, a man in his forties, who becomes the oldest rookie at the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD). Linda E. Doyle is an Irish academic and educator who is the 45th Provost of Trinity College Dublin, the university's chief officer, having assumed the office in August 2021.
