The Department of Infrastructure and Industrial Development, also known as Infrastructure and Industrial Development Department (IIDD) is a department of the Government of Uttar Pradesh. The department was established to create an enabling environment for industrial growth in Uttar Pradesh. It was reconstituted in 2007, after the Government of Uttar Pradesh merged the Department of Industrial Development with the newly-created Department of Infrastructure. The department is responsibility of a cabinet minister of the Uttar Pradesh government, but, its administration is headed by the Infrastructure and Industrial Development Commissioner of Uttar Pradesh, who is an IAS Officer.

Functions

The Department serves as a facilitator of Infrastructure development in the state of Uttar Pradesh. The department and its attached organisations develop buildings, expressways and other infrastructure to attract investors to the state of Uttar Pradesh. [2]

Udyog Bandhu

Udyog Bandhu is a registered society set-up by the Uttar Pradesh government to help entrepreneurs who want to invest in the state. It's headed by the state's chief minister. [3] But the daily affairs of the organisation are handled by its chairperson and its executive director, both of whom are IAS officer. [3] The current[ when? ] chairperson of Udyog Bandhu is Anup Chandra Pandey, who also serves as the chief secretary of Uttar Pradesh and the Infrastructure and Industrial Development Commissioner of Uttar Pradesh, [4] [5] [6] [7] whereas, its current[ when? ] executive director of Udyog Bandhu is Santosh Kumar Yadav. [4]

On the divisional level, Udyog Bandhu meetings are chaired by the divisional commissioner of that division, [3] whilst on the district level, Udyog Bandhu meetings are chaired by the district magistrate and collector of that district. [3]

There are six sections in IIDD, namely Section-1, Section-2, Section-3, Section-4, Section-5, and Section-6, each dealing with matters allotted to it. [2]

Satish Mahana, serves as the departmental minister, [8] [9] [10] and Suresh Rana serves as the Minister of State for Infrastructure and Industrial Development. [8] [9] [11]

The administration of department is normally headed by the principal secretary responsible for it, who is an IAS officer. The principal secretary is assisted by two secretaries, four special secretaries and three joint, deputy or under secretaries. [1] The current principal secretary is Rajesh Kumar Singh. [1]

Presently, the chief secretary of Uttar Pradesh serves as the administrative head of the Department Infrastructure and Industrial Development as the Infrastructure and Industrial Development Commissioner. The current chief secretary is Anup Chandra Pandey. [5] [6] [7]

Yamuna Expressway is a 6-lane wide and 165.5 km (102.8 mi) long access-controlled expressway in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. It is presently India's 6th longest expressway and connects Greater Noida with Agra. It was built to de-congest the older Delhi–Agra national highway (NH-2) or Mathura Road.

The Agra–Lucknow Expressway is a 302 km long, 6-lane wide access-controlled expressway constructed by the Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA) to reduce traffic in already congested roads and to reduce pollution and carbon footprint. The expressway reduced the distance between the cities of Agra and Lucknow in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh and is presently one of the India's longest operational expressways.

Purvanchal Expressway is a 340.8 km long, 6-lane wide access-controlled expressway in the state of Uttar Pradesh, India. The expressway connects Chand Saray village near Gosainganj in Lucknow district with Haydaria village on NH-31 in Ghazipur district. It is developed by the Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA). The Purvanchal Expressway has a 3.2 km long airstrip at Akhalkiri Karwat village near Kurebhar in Sultanpur district for emergency landing of aircraft. The construction work was started by the UPEIDA on 10 October 2018 and was inaugurated and opened to the public on 16 November 2021.

Yogendra Narain is a 1965 batch retired Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of Uttar Pradesh cadre. He is a former Secretary General of the Rajya Sabha. He also served as the Defence Secretary of India, Chief Secretary of Uttar Pradesh, Surface Transport Secretary of India. He is the current Chancellor of Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal University (HNBGU) situated in Pauri Garhwal district of Uttrakhand. The Department of Home and Confidential or Home Department serves as the ministry of the interior of the Government of Uttar Pradesh. Responsible for the maintenance of law and order in the state of Uttar Pradesh, the department makes decisions regarding the peace of the state and enforcement of law and order and is responsible for the functioning of the state police. The department also prepares the state police's budget and—subject to the legislature's approval—releases funds. Bundelkhand Expressway is a 296 km-long (184 mi), four-lane wide access-controlled expressway in the state of Uttar Pradesh, India. It connects Gonda village on NH-35 in Chitrakoot district with Kudrail village on Agra–Lucknow Expressway in Etawah district. Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid down the foundation stone of Bundelkhand Expressway on 29 February 2020 in Gonda village, Chitrakoot, and the expressway was inaugurated on 16 July 2022. The expressway will boost tourism to Chitrakoot Dham.
