Dervis Konuralp (born 1980) is a British Paralympic swimmer who has represented Great Britain at four Paralympic Games, three World Championships and four European Championships.
Konuralp was born in Hackney to a Turkish Cypriot father and an English mother. [1] At the age of nine, Dervis was diagnosed with an eye condition called Macular Dystrophy Stargardts, which meant that he was losing the use of his central vision in both eyes. After learning of his visual impairment, Konuralp began to learn how to swim with his primary school. [2] Dervis would go on to compete for Hackney in the London Youth Games as a visually impaired disability swimmer. [3]
Konuralp's swimming career started when he joined Elaine Barrett a fellow Paralympian, both being coached by Michelle Weltman. Konuralp represented Great Britain in four Paralympic Games. The first of which was at the age of only 15 years old, at the 1996 Summer Paralympics. Konuralp has also competed at three World Championships and four European Championships, winning a total of 35 major international medals, 14 of which Gold. He became World Champion and World record holder at just 17 years of age. [4]
Konuralp was a London 2012 Olympic and 2012 Paralympic Ambassador. As part of this role, Konuralp delivered motivational keynote speeches in various environments. These included schools, sports clubs, after dinner events and corporate events.
He is a member of the London Youth Games Hall of Fame from 2009.

Alix Louise Sauvage, OAM is an Australian paralympic wheelchair racer and leading coach.
Matthew John Cowdrey is an Australian politician and Paralympic swimmer. He presently holds numerous world records. He has a congenital amputation of his left arm; it stops just below the elbow. Cowdrey competed at the 2004 Paralympic Games, 2006 Commonwealth Games, 2008 Paralympic Games, 2010 Commonwealth Games, and the 2012 Paralympic Games. After the 2012 London Games, he is the most successful Australian Paralympian, having won thirteen Paralympic gold medals and twenty three Paralympic medals in total. On 10 February 2015, Cowdrey announced his retirement from swimming.
Benoit Huot is a Canadian Paralympic swimmer, who has won nine Paralympic Games gold medals for Canada, primarily in the freestyle and butterfly strokes.
Dalton Grant is a former high jumper.
Ragnhild Tove Hveger was a Danish swimmer, who became famous when she won silver medal in the women's 400 m freestyle at the 1936 Summer Olympics. From 1936 to 1943 she set 44 world records, and at one time she held 19 world records in different distances and disciplines. In 1938 she won three gold medals at the European championships.
David Evan Roberts CBE, is a Welsh swimmer. An eleven-time Paralympic gold medallist, he is one of Great Britain's most successful Paralympians ever.
Stephanie Slater, is a British Paralympic swimmer competing in S8 classification events. Slater began her sporting career as an able bodied athlete, but after suffering nerve damage to her left arm she switched to parasport. In 2013, she qualified for the Swimming World Championships in Montreal.
Para swimming is an adaptation of the sport of swimming for athletes with disabilities. Para swimmers compete at the Summer Paralympic Games and at other sports competitions throughout the world. The sport is governed by the International Paralympic Committee. Both men and women compete in para swimming, racing against competitors of their own gender. Swimming has been a part of the Paralympic program since the 1960 Summer Olympics in Rome, Italy.
The London Youth Games is an annual multi-sport event held in London, England. The London Youth Games offer competitive opportunities for young people aged 7 to 18 across approximately 30 sports every year. The London Youth Games are contested between the 32 London boroughs and take place at venues across the capital nine months of the year.
Noel Thatcher is a British Paralympic runner who represented the United Kingdom at six Paralympic Games between 1984 and 2004, collecting a total of five gold medals. His two career highlights are winning gold and setting a world record at Barcelona in 1992, and winning the 5k race in Sydney in 2000, again setting a world record. At the 2004 Games in Athens, he carried the flag for the Great Britain team at the opening ceremony.
The Balfour Beatty London Youth Games Hall of Fame was created in 2009 to recognise former London Youth Games competitors who have gone on to world class sporting careers and to celebrate the role the Games have had in their development.
Matthew Anthony "Matt" Haanappel, is an Australian Paralympic swimmer. He was born in Wantirna, Victoria and resides in the far eastern suburbs of Melbourne. He has cerebral palsy right hemiplegia. Haanappel has represented Australia at the 2012 Summer Paralympics, the 2013 IPC Swimming World Championships, the 2014 Pan Pacific Para Swimming Championships, the 2016 Summer Paralympics, and the 2018 Commonwealth Games. He represents the Camberwell Grammar School Aquatic club.
Maddison Gae Elliott, is an Australian swimmer. At the 2012 Summer Paralympics in London, she became the youngest Australian Paralympic medallist by winning bronze medals in the women's 400 m and 100 m freestyle S8 events. She then became the youngest Australian gold medallist when she was a member of the women's 4 × 100 m freestyle relay 34 points team. At the 2016 Rio Paralympics, she won three gold and two silver medals.
Karolina Pelendritou is a visually impaired swimmer from Cyprus. She has won gold medals and broken records in national and international games as well as winning three gold medals, a silver and two bronze over four Paralympic Games. Due to her achievements she is known as the "Princess of the Pool".
Naomi Joy Riches MBE, DL is a British adaptive rower who won a bronze medal at the 2008 Summer Paralympics and a gold medal at the 2012 Summer Paralympics.
Robert Aubrey Matthews was a British athlete who competed in blind middle- and long-distance events. He won eight gold medals across seven Paralympic Games, and has been referred to as an "iconic athlete".

Jesse Aungles is an Australian Paralympic swimmer. He represented Australia at the 2016 Summer Paralympics and the 2020 Summer Paralympics
Kenneth Cairns MBE is a British swimmer who won five Paralympic gold medals across five Games, along with several world titles. He broke several records in swimming events, and was appointed Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in the 2001 New Year Honours for services to disabled sports.
Noah Oliver Williams is an English diver who represents Great Britain and specialises in the 10 metre platform event. He has won silver medals in the 10 metre synchro platform with Matthew Dixon at the European Championships and the Commonwealth Games.
