Desperation is the third album from Hostyle Gospel. Hostyle Gospel Ministries released the project on August 13, 2013. Hostyle Gospel Ministries worked with Blessing Adeoye Jr., Chivas Hemphill (Chevaltron-X), Scott Degroot, Joel Elam, Lamorax and Sene on the production of this album. [1] [2]

A group member said, "The idea behind this album was to show how broken this world we live in is and how we need a Savior to save us." [3]

Reception

Specifying in a seven star review by Cross Rhythms, Tony Cummings responds, "If you want your spiritual declarations shouted at you and you recognize that all of us are involved in an all-out spiritual battle there's much here on the group's third album to inspire you." [4] Willis Fedd, writes in an 8.3 review from 1truthonline, replying, "Over all this a good album. With it only spanning 12 tracks it allows the listener to stay focused on the message. Lyrically, Hostyle Gospel gives great spiritual references and their delivery is on point. Their music production has definitely increased since their last album and it makes you excited to see what they have in store next." [5] Bob Marovich, indicating in a three star review from The Journal of Gospel Music, recognizing "The album is peppered with fist-pumping, pep rally style chants designed to fire up a crowd to join Hostyle Gospel in taking up the fight." [6]

Darlene McCoy

Darlene Jenise "McCoy" Johnson, is an American gospel singer, songwriter, author, radio personality, and Christian R&B recording artist. She started her music career, in 2005, with the release of Fallen in Love single by EMI Gospel. She would release a precursor extended play, in 2007's Fallen in Love, again with EMI Gospel. This will lead into the release of Darlene McCoy later on that year. This album was her breakthrough release on the Billboard magazine charts, which it placed on the Gospel Albums chart. She is the First African American Female to host a nightly syndicated radio show, as she is the host of Nightly Spirit under Reach Media Inc.

Shari Ann Addison, is an American gospel musician and artist. She started her music career, in 2009 with the release of Shari Addison by Verity Records, Zomba Records, and BET Records. This album was her breakthrough on the Billboard magazine charts, which it placed on The Billboard 200 and Gospel Albums charts.

"Clap" is the second single released by Christian hip hop artist Hostyle Gospel featuring Gemstones, released on June 8, 2016. "The track "Clap" was produced by Tone Jonez ." The concept encourage Christian believers to applaud through the form of clap no matter what they are facing in their lives. Gospel Music Historian, Bob Marovich, described the group lyrics as "strapped with their bible as a holy weapon they chant infectiously at demons.” The groups stated that "We are given so many reasons to be defeated and hold our heads low, but it is in those times when we are at our bottom, all alone that we have to "Clap" for and encourage ourselves. Wherever we may end up, we are able to "Clap" your way through".

Hostyle Takeover is the fourth album from Hostyle Gospel. Hostyle Gospel Ministries released the project on October 14, 2016. The Christian hip hop group worked with Tone Jonez, Lamorax, John Givez, Gemstones, Fred Lynch, Marty B, Laquisha Burries and Jonathan Jackson on the production on this album.

Sean Cornelius Johnson, is an American Christian R&B and Christian hip hop musician. He started making music in 2005, releasing five studio albums, Simply a Vessel (2006), Simply a Vessel, Vol 2: Faithful (2009), Simply a Vessel, Vol 3: Surrender All (2012), Circa 1993 (2015) and Race the Sun (2016), while releasing two extended plays, Joy (2011) and Grateful (2013).

Out of the Dust are an American Christian music husband-and-wife duo from Nashville, Tennessee, and Chris Teague and Stephanie Teague started making music together in 2014. They released two independently made extended plays, One Mic, One Night (2014) and Lead Me Through (2015). The duo released a studio album, Out of the Dust (2017), with Discovery House Music.
