Destino (Destiny) is the title of a studio album released by Cuban salsa singer Rey Ruiz. [1] It contains the lead single "Mienteme Otra Vez" which became a #1 hit on the Tropical Airplay chart in the US. [2]

The Tropical Airplay chart is a record chart published by Billboard magazine introduced in 1994. The first number-one song on the chart was "Quien Eres Tu" by Luis Enrique. Originally, rankings on the chart were determined by the amount of airplay a song received on radio stations that primarily played tropical music, namely music originating from the Spanish-speaking areas of the Caribbean such as salsa, merengue, bachata, cumbia, vallenato, and tropical fusions. Any song, regardless of its genre, was eligible for the chart if it received enough airplay from the panel of tropical music radio stations being monitored.

The Cashbox critic Héctor Reséndez felt that the song "has all the right ingredients for success in the jazz and tropical music markets". "Estámos Solos" is a song written by Jorge Luis Pilot and performed by Cuban singer Rey Ruiz on his third studio album En Cuerpo y Alma. It was released as the first single from the album which Cashbox critic Héctor Reséndez called "simply perfect overall". Similarly, John Lannert of Billboard cited as "the album's best song". The track was recognized as one of the best-performing songs of the year at the 1996 ASCAP Latin Awards.

"Ironía" ("Irony") is a song written by Jankarlos Nuñez and performed by Puerto Rican salsa singer Frankie Ruiz on his final studio album Tranquilo (1996) and was released as the lead single from the album. It became his second and final one song on the Tropical Airplay chart and tied with "Loco de Amor" as the longest-running number one song of 1996 on the chart. In the song, the singer notes the irony of being lovers with a woman of higher class while he himself is poor. "Ironía" was the best-performing tropical song of 1996 in the United States. "Ironía" won the Billboard Latin Music Award for Hot Tropical/Salsa Track of the Year in 1997 and was recognized as one of the award-winning songs at the ASCAP Latin Awards in the same year.

<i>Está de Moda</i> 1996 studio album by Grupo Mania

Está de Moda is the fourth studio album by Puerto Rican merengue band Grupo Manía released on December 10, 1996. It topped the Billboard Tropical Albums. The album contains the lead single "Linda Eh", written by Elvis Crespo, which topped the Tropical Airplay chart where it spent four weeks on this position. The track won a BMI Latin Award in 1998. Two other singles from the album, "A Que Te Pego Mi Mania" and "Deja Que la Gente Diga" became a top-ten hit on the Tropical Airplay chart. This would be the final album before Crespo left the group to launch his own solo career.

Que Suenen los Tambores is the sixteenth studio album by Puerto Rican singer and songwriter Víctor Manuelle, released on April 21, 2015, through Kiyavi Corp. and Sony Music Latin. It was produced by Arbise "Motiff" Gonzalez, and features a collaboration with Puerto Rican singer Raquel Sofía in one of the bonus tracks.
