Lieutenant General Devendra Sharma, AVSM, SM is a serving general officer of the Indian Army. He currently serves as the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief Army Training Command. [1] He previously served as the Chief of Staff, Western Command. [2] He earlier served as General Officer Commanding Vajra Corps (XI Corps), [3] prior to that he served as Chief of Staff, Western Command. [4] The general officer is also the Colonel of the Scinde Horse.
The general officer is an alumnus of Mayo College, Ajmer. [5] He then attended the National Defence Academy, Khadakwasla and the Indian Military Academy, Dehradun. [1] In Indian Military Academy, he was awarded the Sword of Honour for standing first in overall merit. [6] He is also an alumnus of Defence Services Staff College, Wellington, College of Defence Management, Secunderabad and Indian Institute of Public Administration, New Delhi. While doing Higher Defence Management Course at CDM, he was awarded the Chief of Army Staff Trophy for standing First in overall order of merit. [7]
He was commissioned into the 14th Horse (Scinde Horse) on 19 December 1987 from the Indian Military Academy. [8] He has commanded the Scinde Horse, an armoured brigade as part of the strike corps, an infantry division and a corps on the western front, an instructor at the National Defence Academy, a Staff Officer Operations in the Indian Military Training Team, Bhutan and the Chief Military Personnel Officer of the United Nations Mission in Democratic Republic of the Congo (MONUSCO). [1] He has a rich experience of both conventional and counter insurgency operations. As a young officer, he served with an Infantry Battalion in OPERATION RAKSHAK (J&K) where he was awarded the Sena Medal for Gallantry. [7]
After being promoted to the rank of Lieutenant general, he assumed the appointment of Chief of Staff, Western Command on 18 October 2021. [4] On 11 February 2022, he took over as the General Officer Commanding Vajra Corps (XI Corps) from Lieutenant general C Bansi Ponnappa. [3] A year later on 16 May 2023 he assumed appointment as the Chief of Staff, Western Command. [2]
On 1 July 2024, he took over as the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief Army Training Command succeeding Lieutenant general Manjinder Singh who moved to South Western Command as Army Commander. [1]
He was conferred with the award of Ati Vishisht Seva Medal in 2022 [9] and Sena Medal for gallantry. He has also been awarded with Central Army Commander's Commendation card and UN Force Commander's Appreciation. [1]

General Bipin Chandra Joshi, PVSM, AVSM, ADC was the 16th Chief of Army Staff (COAS) of the Indian Army. He is the only Chief of the Indian Army to die in office, and until the 2021 death of General Bipin Rawat in a helicopter crash, the only full general and serving Chairman of the Chiefs of Staff Committee to have died in office.
General Sundararajan Padmanabhan PVSM, AVSM, VSM was a General Officer of the Indian Army. He served as the 19th Chief of Army Staff of the Indian Army. General Padmanabhan succeeded General V.P. Malik on 30 September 2000. He also served as Chairman of the Chiefs of Staff Committee.

Lieutenant General Devraj Anbu, PVSM, UYSM, AVSM, YSM, SM, ADC is a retired general officer of the Indian Army who served as 39th Vice Chief of Army Staff (VCOAS). He assumed office on 1 June 2018 following the retirement of Lieutenant General Sarath Chand, and retired on 31 August 2019. He also served as General Officer-Commanding-in-Chief Northern Command from 1 December 2016 to 31 May 2018, prior to that commanding Northern Command, he had commanded IV Corps in the North East.
General Manoj Mukund Naravane, is a retired Indian Army General who served as the 28th Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), as well as the temporary Chairman of the Chiefs of Staff Committee from 15 December 2021 until his superannuation on 30 April 2022. He took over as COAS from General Bipin Rawat on 31 December 2019. He previously held the appointment of General Officer Commanding-in-Chief Army Training Command. He earlier served as the Deputy Chief of Integrated Defence Staff at HQ IDS, prior to this he was General Officer Commanding XVI Corps. He also served as Chief of Staff of the Western Command. The general officer is also the COLONEL of the MADRAS REGIMENT since 01 Jan 2021.
