Dhairyashil Mohan Patil is an Indian politician who is serving as Rajya Sabha member from Maharashtra since August 2024. Prior to that,he previously served as member of Maharashtra Legislative Assembly for Pen constituency between 2009 and 2019. [1]
Patil was born on 1971 in Pen,Maharashtra. His father,Mohan Mahadev Patil,was the state minister of Maharashtra,leader of Peasants and Workers Party of India and had served as MLA from Pen for 24 years until 2004. [2]
He was a science student at a private High School in Pen,then he studied at University of Bombay. In 1991,he pursued a diploma of Civil Engineering in Bharati Vidyapeeth. [3]
Like his father,Patil joined Peasants and Workers Party of India and contested in Pen seat in 2009 elections. He won by margin of 7,616 votes. He was re-elected in 2014. [4]
Patil later lost the seat in 2019 elections to his rival Ravisheth Patil by a margin of 24,085 votes,after later switched from Congress to Bharatiya Janata Party. [5] He joined Bharatiya Janata Party in December 2023. He was elected unopposed to Rajya Sabha in a bye-election in August 2024. [6] [7] [8]

The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party also features several senior leaders who are dynasts. In Maharashtra,the NCP has particularly high level of dynasticism.

The Maha Vikas Aghadi,is a state-level political alliance of centre to centre-left political parties in the Indian state of Maharashtra. It is one of the two major political alliances in Maharashtra. The alliance was formed under the leadership of Uddhav Thackeray of SHS (UBT),Sharad Pawar of the NCP(SP) and Sonia Gandhi of the INC,along with the support from the PWPI,CPI(M) and several other political parties. The MVA suffered a setback in 2024,when it could only win 50 seats in the assembly elections,with none of the parties even managing to get the number of seats to have a leader of opposition in the assembly.
